These keepsakes are gorgeous! I highly recommend these for new parents, or as a baby shower gift!

The two-story building has changed over the years, with the addition of a classroom and kitchen, as well as a second floor gallery. MBAA is celebrating it's 70th Anniversary with MBAA SALON 2021 - Show & Sale which runs through July 12, 2021. The two story art center is presently showcasing a large number of member artist's approaches from Pop Art to Contemporary, in medias of acrylics, glass, bronze, mixed-media and much more. Their current hours are from noon until 4 pm, except Saturdays they have extended hours to 6 pm. This member supported volunteer organization is an asset to the Central Coast community.

The New Times ran a feature showing some of the work on exhibit, so we drove out to the coast for the day and sauntered in. The gallery is refurbished since days of old, and features a nice exhibit space on the first floor, while a second large art gallery is somewhat hidden up a set of stairs. The bird drawings paintings, and prints were uniquely evocative of our central coast area and the works also drew upon the beautiful surrounding environment. Since January and February are primo "Birders" months, and Morro Bay now has an ongoing Birders Festival each year, this was a perfect match. We enjoyed the display and the ceramics and jewelry that the upstairs had. We will return to more shows in this gallery.

Surprisingly, there was just one cheerful woman behind the counter (Paula Radke) who greeted us and immediately shared that she was both the owner and the artist. Her passion and personality seemed to radiate in the pieces of jewelry. We got to make our pick out our own stones and glass and she put them together in earrings and necklaces. There were also picture frames with glass pieces and other small pieces that decorated her shop. What was most impressive was the way she so quickly shared her experience of moving from one location to another and how fortunate she was to have this new shop in Morrow Bay. The four of us enjoyed her stories as much as we enjoyed her art.

We were delighted to find her small new shop tucked away beside the new Nautical Bean Coffee shop in Morro Bay. We were drawn into the shop by some of the vegan leather purses that were displayed in the window. They were so cute that we had to get them for future Christmas presents. We visited with a very personable Paula and looked at her beautiful glass, including vase,s bowls, a mirror, and a wonderful hand blown lamp . It's exciting to see this kind of beautiful work on the Central Coast and inspirational for all the bead crafters out there. Her individual beads would make a stunning necklace, and the small beads would make beautiful bracelets. Her shop is definitely worth a visit if you're in Morro Bay!

We learned how to cut pieces of glass and add copper tape that we would then solder together into these amazing and functional art pieces. MIL was working on composing her own design using different layers of colored glass that would later be fired and shaped. I'm so impressed with the outcome and how cool her new studio space was. She had all the materials provided to us and made sure we were each getting enough of her time, since she was dividing her attention between three people! Lisa was really cool and made us feel like we were old friends. We enjoyed her company and were grateful she could lend her artistic eye so that our pieces would be visually appealing. I'm so glad we tried this out and I plan on coming back again to try another project. The photos of our new terrariums don't do them justice. Lisa even provided the air plants! Thank you, Lisa and Violet, for introducing us to glass arts and sharing your night with our family. Until next time!
