Oakland Hills Country Club - Sad day for this long standing golf course....the building was 110,000 sq feet.

Oakland Hills Country Club

A lunch/dinner was around $35/pp, not bad. They had a good sizable accommodation for some hundred to 200 women. The facility and building is quite big and classic, yet simple for a golf course, but it's nice. Service and staff were all friendly. I would definitely come here for another event.

I attended recently for a dinner function and was immediately impressed with the timeless venue. The sprawling clubhouse is set on an exquisitely manicured golf course, which we were able to admire just before the sun set. After we walked in, we were quickly ushered into the reception room where servers circulated with trays of hors d'œuvres. It was a festive atmosphere as the place filled up and the crowd became even more jovial. Dinner was delicious, but portions were tiny that evening. If I had known, I would have filled up on the previously mentioned hors d'œuvres to keep me from feeling so ravenous. After the meal we ended the night in the bar. I stuck with water, and the bartender was great about keeping my glass filled. My friend got an Old Fashioned, and made a bad face after the first sip. I taste-rested it and I'm pretty sure it was straight bourbon on the rocks. That's great I'd that's what you want, but I think this KY native could teach them a thing or two about whipping up a good Old Fashioned the right way!

This is a very nicely renovated mansion turned into a woman's club. Like a late 1800's gentleman's club, only for women. There is a locker room/workout room/nursing area, but I did not see them because I am not a woman. They have lectures and groups within the club. They have a full kitchen, and the usual food on offer seemed like you would expect at a starbucks or better. They have drinks, coffee, and wine. The wine was higher end. And they use an ordering app so members at different rooms of the club can order easily. Lots of rooms. Dining and lecture rooms, lounge and club type rooms, conference rooms. A large event room. All really nice. There are smaller serving bars on the second and third floors. Depending on age, annual membership is 600 or 1200 dollars. It looked great. Maybe it could have used more restrooms, but that is sort of reaching for something negative to say.
