It's hard to find an access point to actually walk around the park-like setting surrounding the falls, but with careful planning, you can do it! We ended up parking on a side street near an entrance, hiked around a bit, and took photos, but never made it to the bottom today. The falls are surrounded by trees, so surely this area would be beautiful in the fall when the colours change. I've been wanting to get the camera club together for an outing; maybe this fall will present an opportunity?

This place is a kind of known hidden gen near Ottawa/Kanata. This park, which is open 24/7 365 days…read morehas a 2.5 km loop that has access to a small beach. The park offers some highlights year-round. In the summer you can walk about 200-300 m from the parking to a beach that is never crowded do some fishing/sunbathing/swimming. In autumn walk the small loop to see the change of colours but clearly, the best time is winter. In winter go to the beach and watch the wonderful ice structures, you will feel like you are in a frozen movie. On one side the frozen river seems to stretch all the way to Gatineau. people often drive on it with a snowmobile or XC skis. On the other side frozen waterfalls and ice castles for kids to play (very carefully with). The only downside is that the parking lot is closed during winter and you have to park near the side of the road. Be careful that your care doesn't slip to the ditch (happened to me once, luckily some good Canadians helped and we could go on with our hike). P.S this is a dog-friendly trail

As we were starting our adventure within 5 minutes of being on the course, this particular guide began yelling at me in front of the entire group that I was not using the hooks properly and if I did it again I would be asked to leave the course, she then proceeded to yell at my son and tell him"it would have been really nice if you would have listened to what I was saying in the beginning" ( he's 5 and was having a hard time opening the hooks and attaching them to the cable) She said it again and again and blamed us for holding back the group. While we were frantically trying to get through the course because apparently we were holding the entire group back, we overheard her saying " what is wrong with these people and it's their fault that we are behind!" We never said a word because we were really trying to enjoy the course and not let this women ruin it. All of a sudden she tells us to get down because our time is up ( we were supposed to have 2 1/2 hours to finish this course and we still had an hour left) so we went up to her and said " we don't understand why we can't finish?" She proceeded to tell us that we were cutting into her break time and our time was done! She then looked at her watch and said " oh I have the time wrong" okay you can finish. We finished with lots of time left over, and never got an apology from her. She was plain and simple picking on us the entire time. It is a beautiful course and would have loved every minute of it if we were treated decently.

This is a moderate challenge short trail that starts with a great lookout. The trail is a…read more1.3-kilometre loop at the top of the Eardley Escarpment. Along the trail, you can learn about the unique plants that grow here. Stop at the Champlain Lookout, and learn about the geological history of the area. While the hike is very short (I would say 15-20 min), the views, especially in the fall, are breathtaking. The trail has several parts where you need to climb staircases/steps so be aware of that but it is dog-friendly and tends to be crowded during the fall festival in Gatineau park.

I was looking for a new place to hike less than 1 hour away from Ottawa, this was about 40 min…read moredrive and based on the description seemed perfect..and it was. The park is filled with wildlife, we only saw a few deer, turtles, frogs and snakes but we were also with a bunch of very loud kids. The trials are very well marked both by marks you can spot so you won't get lost but the different trails are also color coded (and the marks) which makes everything easier. The trails are not long around 1-3 km so you can combine a few and the place is just magical filled with viewpoints, places to go into the river to cool down, swim or fish. BTW the trails are covered by the trees so its perfect even on a hot day. At the entrance, there is a parking lot (3$ a day self-paid machine), toilets and a couple of picnic tables. I highly recommend this place for kids or a short nature relaxation hike.

This is a 6 KM round trip (actually you walk to the end, do a small loop around a pond and go back) that is not paved and you are walking a narrow path. While the path is not suitable for bikes (bikes are not allowed) We did walk it with an 8-year-old and a 3-year-old (most of the time on my back) so it is not that hard. In fact the hardest part were the mosquitos (BRING BUG SPRAY) The trail is marked pretty ok (some parts were a bit confusing) but you wont get lost, and there are a few side trail if you want a shorter/longer hike. Overall that was a wonderfull walk, very rustic at parts with beutiful scenary,highly recomanded (except the mosquitos)

We waited over a year to be able to visit the wonderful parks of Quebec (Covid times if you are…read morefrom the future). This park is less than 1 hour from Ottawa and has a wonderful discovery. There is a lunch point for canoes or kayaks near the main entrance and some campgrounds. We came here for the hike, the hike itself is a 6.6 Km trail that is suited for bikes (very wide and flat) The trail is super easy and with an 8 and a 4-year-old it took us 2-3 hours to complete with plenty of stops. Some of the trails are not for bikes and they could be detoured (with other trails) but those are the most beautiful and must hike trails (including a wonderful swamp part). So if you are on a bike, consider locking it and walking those parts. Mosquitos- when we did the trail is was a bit windy and with a lot of dragon flies, so no mosquitos here. Also, there are only short parts in the woods most are an open space paths. Overall wonderful discovery and a beautiful park !
