Parc Hendrick at Wakefield, QC is a beautiful community center with rentable buildings for activities such as weddings, a venue for fairs, bazaars, etc., as well as the home of the historic Wakefield Covered Bridge across the road.
The Wakefield Covered Bridge is not open for automobiles, but only for pedestrian traffic. There are signs which tell of the history, how the original bridge was destroyed in a fire, and how the community rebuilt it.
The views are phenomenal - especially for me, as I live over 2,000 miles away in a semi-desert land with few and sparse trees and little water. I can only imagine how beautiful it is when the leaves are in their full Fall colors.
The river is as wide as lakes where I live. I had seen the bridge from the river when I went canoeing in Wakefield (pcture included).
If you're in the area, it's worth a drive to come over and see Parc Hendrick and the covered bridge.
There were no restrooms available, nor is the trail leading to the bridge suited for wheelchairs. read more
