We had a beautiful room at this parador - the view from the ample balcony was breathtaking. The bathroom was spacious, with a comfortable bathtub.
However, we had no way to successfully manage the temperature in our room. As southern Spain never gets as cold as my native Michigan, I found the room exceedingly warm, and the thermostat didn't allow for the heat to be turned off. I ended up sleeping on the balcony one night because I couldn't bear the stuffiness.
Amenities: the dining room is elegant. We enjoyed the local cheese plate and some of the other local dishes on the menu. Be forewarned though, that the coffee was subpar.
Location: both the most wonderful and worst part of this hotel. Because this parador is a castle at the top of the mountain, the views are epic. However, the switchbacks down the mountain into town make this inconvenient if you wanted to enjoy a trip into Jaén or visit a local hiking trail. My recommendation is to just stay at the hotel and enjoy the amenities.
I enjoyed my stay but probably won't stay in this hotel again. read more
