Wonderful people, good hotel, we extended our stay from 1 night to 4. Only drawback is that to get to town centre, you have a steep 20 minute climb up medieval lanes and alleys. Quite testing but do- able. I'm nearly 69 and did it with 1 stop, which just happened to be a bar with cold beer! Don't forget it is downhill all the way back!

Hotel is the former residence of a Cardinal from about 400-500 years ago. Nice place to stay in town, convenient to everything and a five minute walk to the free covered escalators and elevator which take you up to the cathedral, castle, and beautiful winding streets of the old city. Rooms are very clean and nicely furnished. Buffet breakfast is average. We stayed for 4 days in October, when the weather is perfect and the big crowds are gone. They had bargain rates in effect for a very nice room. Also, it's only a 30 minute inexpensive train ride from Spoleto to Assisi, which makes a wonderful day trip.
