We did not participate in any of the foods that they have an offer, but we did browse the store and bought some trinkets along with some clothes. Not a thing I normally do for today. I just couldn't resist. The staff are so friendly and helpful, they have parking outside, but it is limited so you have to try and find some street parking. They also have a beautiful river with small waterfalls running alongside the store. A lot of tourist visiting today, especially during leaf peeping season. It is definitely worth the stop.

But this past fall, our visit there took the cake! We arrived at the lodge and discovered that the entire supply of blankets had been sent to the cleaners. This is Vermont, people! Blankets are necessary! There weren't any stores nearby that were open, so we were thinking we'd make due with our jackets and hope for the best. We also thought some beer might help, so we stopped by the Village Grocery for supplies (they have a really good beer and wine selection, btw.) While mentioning our plight to one of the guys who works there, he was kind enough to call the owner. The owner actually went out of his way to drive miles away to his home and come back with blankets for us. I couldn't believe it. His over-the-top hospitality to out-of-towners blew me away. I still so grateful and will always remember this kind gesture. I learned that his father ran the store back in the day, so it is a family legacy, which is so cool in this day of corporate greed . More importantly, I also love this store!!! They have a great selection of groceries, including local Vermont maple syrup, a nice coffee selection, super cute deli (serving breakfast and lunch sandwiches etc. until 3pm, I think) and plenty of other good stuff too. If you're lucky and happen to be there on the right day, you can score some Heady Topper or Lawson's Finest Liquids, and the staff are always so genuine and friendly. Stop by if you're in town!

It is WAY more than just a convenience store, although it is that, as well They have the best beer selection around--an entire walk in cooler with a broad selection of beers from all over. Wowser! Their deli has great food either cooked to order or serve-yourself hot dishes like chili and Mac and Cheese. After hours for the deli, you can still get a nice set of selections, including my favorite--their deviled eggs. And pretty soon, the serve-yourself creemee machines will be up and running for the season. Did I mention their specials? Including the annual lobster boil? Oh, and they were the first gas station in the Valley to offer ethanol-free gas. Plus, they give back a percentage of gas sales to a local charity each month. The VG is truly a gem! I'm so glad they are here and hope they will be--FOREVER!

I have also tried their deli sandwiches. Highly recommend any of them! I reached out to their customer service via the email address they had online. I saw that they had a sandwich that paid an homage to the Vietnamese Banh Mi, but incorrectly spelled "Bhan" Mehuron. The owner reached back out to me via email the very next day. We had a great conversation and he stated that they will look into correcting the misspelling. It warms my heart to have my culture's food be shared within this community and it's wonderful to see an owner really take pride in what they offer. Great customer service and inventory. I highly recommend and will be back anytime I am in the area.

But I have to give credit where it's due. There's a lot of awesomeness going on at Shaw's, too, that we need to acknowledge. Shaw's rotisserie chicken is fabulous for a grocery store -- a delicious, easily customizable dinner option if you're too tired to cook and don't feel like doing the apres ski meal out because of, well, youknowhat. . Also, they also have fresh oysters!!! Large, mature Wellfleets in Dec. this year for a mere 75 cents/oyster. (They were fresh, aggressively briny as east coast oysters are.) There are live lobsters, well priced major label products of all kinds, especially if you shop weekly deals. (Cabot cheese always seems to be on sale... and frankly, that shiznit is good!) There are fairly priced wines from major label vineyards. They are not as esoteric as some you might find at Mehuron's, but you can certainly find excellent, well-priced options for a Christmas crowd. Most importantly for us, though: Staff were so deeply kind despite pandemic / nation-wide economic and racial stressors this year. We have to give a special shout out to the really, really lovely human wearing a Pride pin who encouraged the lobsters to be more active for my fascinated 6-year old. (Frankly, captive lobsters in a tank always make me sad, but he did this from a kind and generous place.) I think he may have been the same employee (wearing a "Joe" name tag) who dressed as Santa in a kilt on Christmas Eve Day and gave my same 6-year old a candy cane. This truly made her day. (She talked about how she met Real Santa at a grocery store to anyone who would listen for hours after.) The transplant from Tennessee who worked the cash register every day we were there was friendly and cheerful to everyone, seemed to be known by everyone. The guys at the deli case were affirmatively helpful. I know what you do isn't easy and we appreciate you. Happy holidays!!

An excellent little deli with hot sandwiches like Philly Cheese Steaks, Chicken Cheese Steaks, Reubens, and Cuban Paninis. Also there's a good assortment of deli meats and cheeses and cold sandwiches. But more than just a deli, it's a good little market with everything from fresh apples to light bulbs, ice cream, Sip of Sunshine beer (and other beers but not Heady Topper), coffee, paper towels, etc. and let's not forget the excellent coffee station. Service is generally with a smile and its within a mile of the Sugarbush ski resort. A destination deli for most people who crave a good home cooked meal or a snack. read more

After a few minutes of washing, she took our order for two sandwiches. Then she proceeded to make them without washing or changing her cleaning gloves. If this isn't a health violation it should be. It took her 20 minutes to make our two sandwiches, while others were lining up behind us. Lots of turkey on a good white roll. Two good slices of tomato. A few pieces of onion. Green peppers sliced a half inch thick that wouldn't stay in the roll. Half a romaine leaf and too much mayo, even though I asked for very light on the mayo. Please wash and dry your hands or gloves before you make my food.

RIP prepared beverages. Abnormally generous employee benefits seem ripe for cost cutting, as these expenses are directly passed on to shoppers. There are plenty of folks in our community who are completely priced out of shopping here. I have slowly begun to take my business elsewhere.

The only people who are pleasant is the older female cashier who is usually sitting, down, along w a few of the merchandisers. I don't recommend shopping here.
