H Lancaster - Incredible craftsmanship in furniture. Estate sale items too, very reasonably priced. Furniture is made to last. Lots of silver antiques.

If you love the coastal lifestyle, you really must check out this beautiful store near the bridge…read moreto Port Aransas. My sister and I stopped in and I was amazed, at not only the beautiful hand-crafted furniture, art and accessories, but the elegant design and layout of the space. Despite the industrial exterior and the proximity to fresh bait, the interior feels like a high-end retail environment. Think Crate and Barrel, Restoration Hardware, or Chip and Joanna Gaines' Magnolia complex in Waco. There's plenty of space, ample light and items ranging from a few dollars to thousands are all thoughtfully displayed. Stepping back outside was a bit of a culture shock! The furniture is the star of the show, and H. Lancaster's creativity and craftsmanship are evident. Whether repurposing familiar items in clever ways, unique designs, or featuring the grain of a gorgeous piece of wood, you will be impressed. There's no mass produced, laminated particle board here. It's quality, solid wood "investment" furniture. You can buy off the floor, but it looks like some folks order custom pieces too. I was delighted to see a gallery devoted to local artists, including Portland's Dinah Bowman. Dinah is famous for her fish prints, but she has other pieces as well. The collection includes original paintings as well as prints and greeting cards, featuring lovely beach scenes, boats, local landmarks, families playing in the sand. It's the kind of art you'd want in your beach house, or the perfect vacation remembrance. After you go through the main store, you can also go through the (un-air-conditioned) workshop and upstairs to another showroom. If you're not in shape it might be a bit of a workout, but it's worth it. I also appreciate H. Lancaster's dedication to recycling, reclaiming and repurposing wood and other materials. It's not only good for the environment, it obviously inspires creativity. After a visit here, it just might inspire you too!

Coastal decor! This furniture and decor shop has everything…read moreyou need for your beach house. They've got all the bird, fish, mermaid and boat themed stuff you could ever ask for! This place has got lots of cool stuff to check out. My favorite are the mermaid mail boxes- rowr! Hubba hubba! I'd really wanna get one, but haven't picked out the right place to put it. The prices here are on the high side, but so is the quality of selection. This stuff is curated to the discerning Texas coastal home. The shop goes back through the space pretty far with a lot of different little 'rooms' or displays with sofas and a coffee table, showing how the stuff can be laid out. It seems that some of the artwork is locally made, which is cool! Be sure to check out the giant adirondak chairs out front! You need this in your life!

My family and I made our annual trip down to Rockport this weekend and were perusing through the…read moreshops, as usual. However this was the first time in this shop. I was kind of surprised not to have found this business already in Yelp. Time to make a Yelp addition. Walking towards the entrance you notice a big "Oh My" chair. Good picture taking moment for big kids (including those of us who are kids at heart) and little ones. Walking into the store you see an eclectic collection of items, including a horse to greet you. To the right your attention is caught by a large selection of Turkish lamps, from between one and two hundred dollars, to over a thousand dollars. Further on you will find a wall of clocks, furniture, and a myriad of home decor choices (pillows, wall hangings, lamps, tables, etc.). Most of the prices would not fall into the "bargain" category, but for those who are looking for products that are pleasing to the eye and are willing to pay the asking price, it's a great find.
