Today I ran out of my salbutamol inhaler and was experiencing shortness of breath so I needed to…read moreget a new inhaler immediately. I decided to ring 111 as they could arrange for a prescription being sent to my local pharmacy to immediately collect an inhaler. When first going into Boots to collect my prescription they claimed they hadn't received any referrals. So I rang up 111 and after an unhelpful process from 111 they resent the referral through. One staff member was really helpful at getting the referral through. Once the referral had arrived at boots, they started asking me my reasons for needing a salbutamol inhaler even though I went through this process with 111. They looked up my health record history and couldn't find anything even though I've been prescribed this medication for the majority of my life. Boots refused to give me the inhaler. And the main reason for this was one staff member said to me "you don't look like you're having an asthma attack" and that "if you were, I would give you one right now". I felt disgusted that the pharmacist thought he could evaluate my physical health and he felt he could reject me from having the medicine I really need. Now it's a Sunday and I'm left unable to get any medical help and am left with shortness of breath. I'm disgusted that the pharmacist thought he could gaslight me into telling me I didn't need the inhaler.

This is a large Boots store given the comparatively small area of Wolsey Place shopping centre,…read morethat is well stocked and brightly lit. It often gets very busy during peak times, which can make the aisles crowded and unpleasant, but that is more a testament to the store's popularity than as a criticism of it. The store offers a range of cosmetics, perfumes, health and beauty products, as well as opticians, babywear and photography sections, all of which are well stocked and organised so things are easy to find. The Boots point system is often a very postive aspect of the store, and there are a number of points machines around the store so you can check your balance and print off any of their many offers that they have available. It shuts reasonably early for a Boots, in accordance with the opening hours of the Wolsey Place centre; usually 5:30, but at times they seem to try and pull the shutters down over the shop earlier (5:10 onwards) which can be intimidating if you wanted to nip in and buy something just before the store closes. Likewise at times the queues are quite bad, and despite having a number of tills it is rare that all of them are operating at once.
