    Our second home for learning/growing
    Carnabal K.

My son will be going back for his second year here soon and I feel relieved, as I go back to the office, that I can leave my son in his second home. This school has the absolute best atmosphere if you want your kids to grow up wholesome, creative, independent, and capable of making their own decisions. Let's be honest, the public school system is set up to teach children how to follow orders and be disciplined employees, with very little room or none at all, to exercise their initiatives. The Montessori method at Papillon is what your child needs during those crucial first years. The educators don't treat them as adults--they respect their intelligence. We move a lot so I don't know if we will be able to stay for years to come but as long as we are Miami Beach residents, we will keep our child here. As a multicultural, young mom, I was happy with the overall inviting, good vibes of the school. I was a little concerned when I saw a few reviews about qualifications and made it a point to ask and it just so happened that the staff member I spoke to, had 2 master's degrees. Did I mention they have actual rabbits on the grounds?

His teacher Ms Sujata is attentive and caring, she is brilliant at observing the child and providing just the right stimulation and support. She played a crucial part in building our son's confidence, developing his social skills, emotional intelligence and broadening his knowledge. She has given us plenty of great tips on how to support our son through various challenges. She is a professional you can trust every step of the way. I really appreciate that the school has a strong value system, so kindness and respect are truly FELT in the classrooms. My son is quite sensitive, so it was precious to have peace of mind and know that he feels safe at school. Last but not least, the school administration has been very responsive and forthcoming to meet all our needs. This kind of flexibility and personal approach is impossible to find anywhere else from my experience. I highly recommend Village Montessori to parents that are looking for excellent early education. It's a classic Montessori school with high standards, the teachers and director regularly advance their education, and we could see how the management are constantly striving to improve things - teachers training, free seminars for parents, events, classroom improvements, etc. We are really grateful to Village Montessori, Ms Sujata, Joan, Mike and the team for creating such a special community and experience during the formative years of our child's life!

Unfortunately, the ownership and management are very disappointing and overshadow the positives. Activities get canceled (such as music) with no communication to parents. There is constant penny-pinching -- parents are repeatedly given long shopping lists (30+ items) for small things like napkins and supplies, even when bringing food. Costs go up every year, yet services and activities continue to be reduced. When concerns are raised, Ms. Meybis shows little interest in resolving them. Each complaint is met with the same reaction, and no real action is ever taken. It's frustrating to see tuition increase while the quality and offerings decrease year after year. Because of this, we ultimately chose to leave. I would strongly recommend parents look elsewhere -- Kinuvu on 22nd is a much better option.

I'm currently pregnant with our second baby and couldn't even imagine the consequences If this Covid situation would happen to me! I had to isolate myself from my own child! Not once did Albert call me and let me know what occurred. How did I find out something went wrong..?? you can be a mother of 2 in your mid 30's trying to party on South Beach mid day.. I guess Albert wanted to help her hide this from me. I'd stay away from this school and owner. I really want to sue him. It's also fairly new, it's been open 6 months more or less. They accept children 18 months to 6 years old and therefore I don't have a kid that age but my coworker/best friend drops off her daughter every day and I usually go with her to either drop off or pick up her up. The staff is friendly and are always aware for the safety of the children and know who is picking them up all the time. So far I've heard no complaints and my friends daughter has learned a lot since being there since they teach a non traditional style of learning, Montessori. BTW Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. In Montessori classrooms children make creative choices in their learning, while the classroom and the teacher offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process. Children work in groups and individually to discover and explore knowledge of the world and to develop their maximum potential. They are a little pricey I think $700-800 a month but worth it if you can.

From the very beginning, it was clear this was more than just a school. It felt like a second home. What stood out most was the teachers. They didn't just teach our children, they truly loved them. You could feel it in the way they greeted them each morning, the patience they showed, and the care they took in understanding each child as an individual. As parents, there's nothing more reassuring than knowing your children are safe, seen, and deeply cared for when you're not there. The Montessori approach was thoughtful and nurturing, encouraging independence, curiosity, and confidence in a way that always felt age appropriate and respectful. We watched our children grow not just academically, but emotionally and socially, and we credit so much of that to the environment and people at Morningside. We will always be grateful for the years our family spent there. Morningside Montessori helped shape our children in the most loving and supportive way, and we couldn't recommend it more highly.
