The Christmas Market time in Germany is super busy and especially on Friday - Sunday. Schumacher alt is the oldest brewery in Düsseldorf. Established in 1838. Thankfully they have modern and clean restrooms to evacuate all the beer drank there. The ambiance of the place is a lively beer hall. There are picnic tables and banquettes of various sizes. The wait staff are intentionally a little rude. Part of their stick. The beers keep coming until you say stop. You get the house brew in 10 oz. glasses. The waiter makes a mark on a coaster each time he brings a round. When you have had enough be sure to put a coaster on top of your glass, or the beer will keep coming. The food menu is large and only in German. It is a good time to use the photo translation feature on your phone. The food was very good and a LOT! For the first time ever I have walked into a bar in Germany and they had run out of beer. I mean come on, how is that even possible in Beer nation ? Mixed drinks like JD & Coke were minimum €7.50 and above and the bar was also pretty empty when we got there with Rock music from the 90's playing loud. The waitress was lovely and friendly but the guy at the bar seemed a bit grumpy and not interested in serving us. I may come back here again another time and see. It's saving grace is the opening times. 2 am during the week and upto 5am on weekends.
