When moving to Portland and with no idea on who to contact for some repair jobs, I basically was…read morethrowing a dart at a list of repair companies. I took on a house that had a lot of surprises, mostly leaks in different parts of the house. Over the course of a couple years, they were trying to diagnose the issues, claiming all manner of things that even I, with almost zero experience in this stuff, found perplexing. At one point they said an entire window had to be replaced. I had to wait an entire month for it to be special ordered and delivered, and after tearing out my old window, the guy realized they ordered the WRONG SIZE, and the office put it on the tech to relay the news. Office wouldn't even call me. So I called them and they coerced me into paying for that one and simply adding slats of wood to the sides of the window, obviously because they didn't want to get stuck with useless product. Yes, I should have stood up for myself and made justified demands, but what could I do with a leaky window? And that wasn't even the source of the problem! Turns out NONE of the four or five different techs that came out ever diagnosed the correct source of the leak. And me, with zero knowledge construction was right about the source of the leaks the entire time. Got a father and son team to come in through word of mouth and have not had a single problem since. One of the techs actually fell asleep in the truck on the job. Yes, I have video proof and will upload it if I have to. Bottom of the barrel people working here, that I wouldn't trust with a set of Lincoln Logs. You live and learn. Never forget. Always trust good word of mouth.

I really wanted to like this company. I'm so tired of looking for someone reliable. We thought this…read morecompany was THE ONE. I was relieved for possibly two weeks. We need a contractor here for a very long list of projects and we wanted Payless to be the one. But. It took 8 weeks and now we have a basic shed, wooden entrance steps and a back door. See pics. I didn't want to hire him because when we first met him, he was three hours late without contacting us, but my partner wanted to give him a chance. I contacted him after two hours and some errands and he showed up an hour after THAT. NEVER HIRE SOMEONE THIS DISRESPECTFUL. I think my partner learned a lesson. Derek said he had 29 men working for him and that we would have a shed in a day. The men worked two at a time for FIVE HOURS PER WEEK for six weeks. On three separate occasions he had four or more men here, but not even for full work days. That accounts for the other two weeks. He would say they were coming and they didn't. He would say they would be here in the morning and they would arrive two and a half hours dark. Once he told us they were in our driveway. WE were in our driveway. They weren't in sight. Even though I told him I wanted steps, he was somehow stuck on a ramp and wouldn't listen until I yelled. His guys don't speak English, either, so how could I possibly get a good result? We always had to call him to translate from miles away. I did not have 8 weeks to waste on this guy. The floor should have been done by now, insulation, tree damage . . . I had time to do all of that before it got cold but he took 8 weeks on three small projects and I couldn't schedule anything else because he was never truthful about when his men would be here. It's possible that his men lie to him about where they are. I can't think of any other reason why someone would lie like that. Last Saturday, I told him not to come back. Then like a bully, out of the blue, his guys came on Tuesday, as if he's so belligerent that he had to show a DYING woman who's boss. That's right, I have stage 5 cancer and people in my condition live for about 20 months and he knew that I was trying to fix this place for my bf to live in after I'm dead. He set me back by an entire winter. I'm thinking about haunting him after death if I'm allowed. Hopefully there will be better things to do. Below are the photos of the "finished" work that I have to pay someone else to fix. If he were a good person, he would read this and learn where to improve, but all he wants to do is argue.

DO NOT HIRE!!! TOTALLY INCOMPETENT and a CROOK!!! Received…read morea $1500 quote, and was assured all requests could easily be done in a few hours. Three days later I had to kick them off my property after realizing they literally had no clue what they were doing. I paid $1000 plus bought all materials including a sanding block, should have been a huge red flag that a professional contractor didn't even have something to sand with, his other company is a drywall company. Everything they touched they either broke or left in worst condition than found. On top of what I gave them and the need to pay a "real contractor" to come in and redo/fix their shoddy "work" I also had to pay for things they broke while they were attempting to do the work they said they could do. NO refund or compensation was offered even after admitting to not doing anything properly. The pictures do not even show all the damage they left behind. A complete and total mess that I had to continue to ask the workers to clean up after themselves. All in I was quoted $1500 and will end up paying almost $4000!!! Very expensive life lesson

I hired Anthony Beasley to do simple flooring work and build stairs. He claimed he had 2 guys that…read moreworked with him and wrote into the contract that he was going to replace subfloor. He gave me a start date which he did not start on. He cashed my $1200 deposit within an hour- first of many red flags. He informed me the hallway floor was so sloped he would need to build it up with subfloor too- add $700, I agreed as it was badly sloped. when i got home he had made the floor more level but it was underlay that he put right on the old pine floor, not subfloor. I was charged subfloor money for underlay. He did not take the underlay all the way to the edges, presumably he either didnt know how to jigsaw it out around the door jamb or didnt think to sawzall the door jamb to fit it. Finally the heater vent in the floor does not fit anymore he did not check it before screwing the plywood down and now it has to be removed and fixed. He had no other guys with him and so that is all that got done in 2 days. When asked he insisted it was subfloor, even though that goes directly on the joists, because it goes under the floor...that is not how that works at all. He said he didn't have other guys working with him to keep overhead down, so there goes the week he said this whole job would take, and even though it was written on the contract in his own hand he insisted he was not doing subfloor in another room, which he clearly can't do anyway because he doesnt know what it is. He then accused me of doctoring the contract and said he had no memory of saying that, writing that, or any dip in the livingroom to address and I must have written it into the contract behind his back. Then tried to say there was too much furniture for him to have seen the dip even though I had cleared the furniture away so he could see the issue. When I decided I didnt want him to doing anymore shoddy work in my home or talking to me like Im an idiot I told him, out of the 1200 deposit he could keep the 700 for work and materials that he quoted for the work he did (shoddy as it was) but I wanted the rest refunded as I would not be needing his services anymore and that I would leave the few tools he had here on the porch for him to pick up. Even though there is nothing in the language of the contract that would suggest he could withhold anything the next day he said he would keep $499 of the $500 dollars left that I wanted back because I broke the contract, as if unsatisfactory work wouldn't qualify, and offered me a dollar back instead. When I said I would take him to small claims he had the audacity to brag about how in the 15 years of doing this work he has gone to court a few times and won all of them...not really something to brag about dude. He also, very childishly, took the bag of common nails and wood screws I left with the other tools he brought and scattered them across the driveway in front of my garage knowing I would come home after work when it was dark and prompting me to have to file a police report. This guy is the literal WORST, he lies, he is counting on a woman being too dumb to know better, and will argue with you circuitously. He is inept, childish, and vengeful. Please avoid him and his "work" at all costs. I wish I had checked his BBB and yelp reviews first. Don't let him sucker you too
