This is the best Middle Eastern market in Canton. The store is spacious and clean. It offers good deals on snacks and vegetables, baked goods, and ready-made food. The breads available include sambusek and Middle Eastern-style pizza, cheese bread, and kafta sausage bread. Many candies and snacks are foreign from Europe and the Middle East and reasonably priced; many are on sale. The frozen food aisle offers Arabic, Indian, and Pakistani food that can't be found at your typical supermarket.

Papaya Fruit Market in Canton just opened this week so I went to check it out! It's difficult to give a review this early as they were not fully up and running and the cashiers were still in training. But here are my thoughts from today. The prices on fruit and veggies were reasonable but not as good as sale prices at grocery stores. The produce looked fresh and was well stocked. I was able to grab a whole box (8 containers) of strawberries for $1.99! Maybe they are a little old but they still looked good to me (see photo). I also bought some bananas for .59 a lb and a single red onion. The market specializes in ethnic foods which fits well with the diverse population of Canton. They have a bulk spice area that allows customers to buy a specific amount. I bought some toasted sesame seeds and only paid about one dollar for .25 lbs. That doesn't sound like much but it filled a glass spice jar and I still had quite a lot left (see photo). This was a big savings over sesame seeds I priced in stores. There is a fresh meat counter and bakery with an oven. They have a large variety of breads, pita, buns and more but I'm not sure if any was made there. I was hoping to find some fresh hummus. There were some areas not filled yet so hoping that's still to come. Overall I wasn't too impressed but as I said, they just opened and aren't fully stocked. So I'll go back during their grand opening to give it another try.

This place is a God send for me and my family, especially a few weeks before Ramadan. They have a halal meat market with a good variety of cuts that I would normally have to go to Dearborn for. There are two other halal butchers in Canton who I won't name, but I'm not too fond of them due to questionable meat quality and inconvenient hours. You can also find a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, frozen stuff, specialty sweets, olive oil, and spices. Very clean, bright and spacious inside. The staff is also friendly and welcoming.

My family really enjoys visits to Papaya since there is a huge variety of fruits, vegetables, breads, meats, and more at an affordable price. Also, there are lots of spices, dried fruits, snacks, and more which are difficult to find elsewhere. The bakery section has very flavorful and fresh items such as meat, cheese, or spinach sambusas. The cashier was also knowledgeable about each of the bagged produce we had and checkout went quickly.

Great and fresh selection of midwestern food and produce. I wish they didn't close their kitchen area, what a bummer!

Great selection of middle eastern goods. Medium-sized grocery store. Lots to explore. Will definitely return.

I almost always find what I need here, great quality, wide selection, and especially handy when my kids suddenly need something for school, like a themed outfit or supplies. I can count on Meijer to have it. The store is clean, well-organized, and the customer service is friendly and helpful. They offer both self-checkout and staffed counters, making the billing process smooth and flexible, which I really appreciate. I've never had any issues shopping here. They also offer some great deals on produce, and one of my favorite sections is the plant corner. I've picked up several beautiful plants over time and always look forward to checking it out. Overall, Meijer remains one of my favorite and most dependable places to shop, clean, convenient, and well-stocked (most of the time!). Highly recommend!

I told him I did not buy any bulghur, only masri rice and bulk chick peas listed at 0.49c/lb. The owner heard me and rushed over. The chick peas are not 49 cents he stated. "That was a sale and the sale ended yesterday." I said well if the sale ended, then remove the sign that says 49cents/lb. He answers "Ma Bady" meaning I don't want to. Instead of being worried that his cashier was charging me an additional $3 that he may be pocketing, he is arguing over a few cents in the cost of the chick peas. This owner needs a lesson in customer service.
