We consider pizza one of our favourite meals, we have it quite often and we love try new pizza establishments.
This is a new construction and looks clean and bright, yet there is no seating for inside dining or waiting, and there is very little counter space. They have the standard sides and regular pizzas but they are priced higher than most other pizza places. When you order a side, they are rather small for the inflated price. But on the upside they offer some of the best daily deals, a different combo for each day of the week which is an awesome price and great for large groups.
When it comes to Specialty pizzas, Papa John's has an excellent selection! Most of the pizzas are more expensive but they have kinds that we have not seen anywhere else. These unique pizzas are the reason to come to Papa John's. The nice thing is, they consider chicken only one topping! And the pizzas are never greasy. They are also never skimpy with the toppings and very flavourful. They seem to build their pizzas differently, it seems like the toppings are all hidden under a thick layer of cheese. And I mean thick, the cheese is actually some of the best quality we've had. We have enjoyed several pizzas from their menu and haven't been unsatisfied, except for one small issue. ...Onions.
We don't usually have issues with onions, as long as they are in moderation. But Papa John's really love their onions, and majority of their pizzas include them. It's honestly too much, they seem to pack every inch of their pizzas with onions, not that they are of bad quality but they just overpower every other toppings taste. This is where we have run into problems with Papa John's. It seems like you have to pursue them to have no onions, and enforce it with an iron fist. It doesn't matter how many times to tell them, they still end up putting onions on every pizza they make. Even when you order online and uncheck the box for onions AND write a note in the comment box that says specifically "No Onions", that pizza is going to have onions on it. I can see this being a very important issue to anyone who has allergies to certain ingredients.
We recommend placing your order online. You can access their deals more sufficiently then asking an employee over the phone. You can also be certain that you'll have documentation of your pizza order, this is very important with this Papa John's. It has happened to us on more than one occasion where either ourselves or a fellow customer has complained about what they ordered and the pizza received. This restaurant's manager will do whatever possible to try to prove you wrong and not hold herself responsible for any mistakes. There have been several instances where we have been in the restaurant whilst the Manager has yelling arguments with customers.
It's a hard decision to choose between excellent quality, and terrible service. The fact that the pizza is of phenomenal quality almost makes up for the shenanigans that take place. We hate having to double check our pizza before we leave the restaurant EVERY SINGLE TIME. There's always, ALWAYS something that goes wrong but the food is always fantastic.
