Relaxing across the street
Marisol A.

Wanted a late night sweet after visiting Kunsthistorisches Museum. Not wanting coffee or pastries and it being a warm night we opted for gelato. My hubby being Italian and I figured that a place using the owners name must not be hiding anything and the location itself (a pedestrian friendly shopping area) must mean it is good. We were not disappointed. Staff spoke English and were able to help decipher flavors we weren't familiar with. Top quality compared to some other places. Would happily come again.

Nutella cup!

I really tried to find a flaw. Awesome ice cream, nice price, excellent inside with patio outside, friendly service, quick delivery of my nutella cup thingy... All around good time with the wife! One quib I had with my nutella cup is that there is Always Room For More Nutella...

Vegan ice cream!

A very nice ice cream saloon with plenty of choice, also in vegan ice cream! Thumbs up for the banana flavour...

I went out with some friends and got a banana split. it was really good, though in hindsight I think I should've gotten the kiwi cup. this is a good place to just sit and chill during summer.

We have made it our business to try as many gelato places as possible on this trip. We used to be devoted to another well-known Viennese place, but we changed our allegiance to Bortolotti this week. The gelato is incredibly creamy, with intense flavor and just the right number of flavors to choose from. Worth a trip or 10.

Mascarpone cup is an ice cream tiramisu! Very nice.

Great ice-cream, but not very friendly and not very nice to sit inside (the ice-cream makes it up though ;) )

Right after dinner, we headed over and as other Yelpers have mentioned, flavors aren't in English, but they will gladly translate them for you and they are generous with letting you sample different flavors. The flavors are unique and on point, as in no overly sweet aftertaste. I highly recommend the kiwi or poppy seed, both were very good. I really liked the pumpkin apple one as well, seasonal flavor? It's also very affordable, I believe my single scoop in a cone was about 2 euros or less. If you're in Vienna, you should definitely give this place a try. My friends and I stopped in on a cold and rainy day, but it was worth it. I would love to come back and try some other flavors!

I would have never thought to make ice cream with pumpkin seed oil, but there is olive oil ice cream, so why not pumpkin seed oil ice cream? Pumpkin seed oil is now one of my favorite ice cream flavors in Vienna. The poppyseed flavor was not strong, but had a good texture. The elderberry flavor had an intense tang that was very refreshing for summertime. The three flavors were very different from each other, but it was absolutely divine to try them together.

My absolute favorites are the chocochino, a mixture of chocolate and coffee, and the cafe latte which is short of like an eiskaffee in scoop form. They create a unique recipe for each flavor so each flavor has its own distinctive taste. You can really tell you're dealing with hand made ice cream, nothing mass produced or processed here, that's for sure! It's truly artisan ice cream at its best.

The family-run business is located a block away from the Wien Mitte mall, so it is very easy to walk to when traveling around the city. Vidoni's ice cream shop provides unique and delicious ice-creams. Some of their flavorful creations are Earl Grey (English black tea), Raspberry Violet, Orange-Saffron, Chocolate Nut Brittle and coming soon - Peanut! This one of a kind shop also takes consideration to everyone's special dietary needs -- the ice-creams are marked according to what kind it is: Vegan, lactose-free, organic, sugar-free, nut free, and gluten free. I got to taste test ice creams like Black Forest cake, Turkish Honey, Amaretto, Pistachio, and Cafe Latte. My top favorite? Turkish honey! It had such a nice sweetness to it. The people behind Vidoni also take a lot of care in the creation, process and presentation of their ice-cream, investing in powerful machines to pulverize and turn their simple ingredients of milk (or dairy free milk), sugar and other fruits/herbs necessary to create delicious and appetizing ice-cream. They focus on organic ingredients wherever possible -- some ingredients are specially grown fruits and herbs from gardeners on their team. Plus, if you're in Vienna, you can pre-order their ice-cream through their web shop or app, and if you order within the 1st or 3rd district you can have your ice-cream delivered to you, while in all other districts there is an Ice Cream Van that drives around. So check out Vidoni if you are around the area and want to try out some tasty and unique ice-cream flavors!! http://americaninvienna.com
