Gastronomia Pigozzo - Mini dessert with our cicchetti (Italian tapas) spread

How did we live half a mile away from Pigozzo for 6-months and not discover this gem sooner? That's…read morethe weird thing about Italy, I suppose. I'm convinced there are absolutely no zoning laws here -- you can have an amazing wine bar like Pigozzo tucked in between houses, a garden center, and a travel agency and never notice it because it blends right in... Since discovering Pigozzo just a week ago, we've already been back 3-times. It's just that good! They have about 6 wines on draught at all times, €3 per glass. The Malbec and Cabernet I've tried are good, served chilled, but the hands down winner is the Lambrusco. Normally, I'd avoid Lambrusco, thinking it would be too sweet, but theirs is just slightly sweet and fizzy. I love anything with bubbles, so this one is a big win! In case the ridiculously inexpensive (and delicious) wine on tap wasn't enough, they also have a huge deli counter with tons of prepared foods. When you order a glass of wine, they'll ask if you want a little bit to eat, too. If you say yes (for the love, say yes), they bring you an incredible assortment of warm cicchetti, Italian tapas, from behind the case. We've been presented with paella, various meatballs, arancini, calamari, strawberries with sweet cream, and more. Every single thing they've brought us has always been so good. You can also get their prepared foods to go and make a meal of it at home. Plus, their shelves are stocked with Italian necessities such as pasta, bottles of wine, jarred sauces and vegetables, olive oil, etc.

So, it's safe to say we'll be there at least once a week for the foreseeable future! Pizzas are hot and fresh with quality ingredients. One pizza runs you about €5-€8 and are usually good for at least 2 meals. Hooray, left overs! My favorites are the Brasiliana (mushrooms, bresaola, sun dried tomatoes, arugula, and grana shaving) and the Angel (sausage, rosemary, oregano). The Brasiliana is my favorite fresh but doesn't make for great left overs. The Angel is good fresh and does better reheated the next day. Service is always really friendly. We love ordering pizzas and grabbing a couple beers from their case to enjoy outside while we wait. Two pizzas and two beers on Tuesday will run you about €15. On other days of the week, you'll still stay under €20 for the most part. I wish they had more seating, but they're really set up to be a delivery/to-go spot so, I can't fault them too much for not being my go-to, sit-down pizza restaurant I am just dying to discover.

I don't know what I expected but I guess for the price it was ok. The place was packed so people here in Italy like it!

Dare I even say, in all of Italy?!? Tucked into a quiet little neighborhood in Caldogno, Gelateria Elefantino is a hidden gem, serving up the creamiest, most flavorful gelato I've ever had. On our first visit, I had the Tentassione -- cheesecake with passion fruit. So fresh and delicate, perfect for a hot summer day. My hubby had the tiramisu. I don't like coffee flavors stuff but I liked this flavor. From what I can understand from their website (it's all in Italian and I'm still learning), they make the gelato in house daily with local ingredients, free of artificial additives. They also had cases full of amazing looking cakes, toppings for the gelato and more. Their hours are great! Even open on Sundays from 11:30am - 11:30pm (during the summer). They have a well maintained Instagram account that highlights their rotating flavor of the week. Be sure to check it out. Anyone want to place a bet on how many times we're going to visit Elefantina while we're in Italy? It's going to be often!
