I mention this only because that prior experience helped me to recognize the need to begin anew. Now, six months into my treatment, I feel very fortunate to be his patient. Early on in our work together, we quickly identified my goals, the obstructions I faced , and a general pattern of future discussion in addressing both. I could mention his keen eye for detail and his remarkable recollection. But I prefer to comment on this growing sense of his talents guided by genuine commitment to my well-being, in the near- and far-term. I'm so grateful for his manner of gently challenging me to reconsider some particular thought or habit of daily life. Invariably, it's those moments that have proven most fruitful to me, and have yielded true relief. Rarely do I leave his office without pondering the product of that day's conversation, with our exchanges echoing and accompanying me long after our visit.
