I mention this only because that prior experience helped me to recognize the need to begin anew. Now, six months into my treatment, I feel very fortunate to be his patient. Early on in our work together, we quickly identified my goals, the obstructions I faced , and a general pattern of future discussion in addressing both. I could mention his keen eye for detail and his remarkable recollection. But I prefer to comment on this growing sense of his talents guided by genuine commitment to my well-being, in the near- and far-term. I'm so grateful for his manner of gently challenging me to reconsider some particular thought or habit of daily life. Invariably, it's those moments that have proven most fruitful to me, and have yielded true relief. Rarely do I leave his office without pondering the product of that day's conversation, with our exchanges echoing and accompanying me long after our visit. As we were discussing my past experiences that made me into the person I was, we discovered that growing up with divorced parents with addiction that the best form of treatment would be a program called ACOA (Adult Children of Alcoholics). As we worked through the program I was able to learn and love my parents for who they were/are as they were doing the best job they could, and not my thoughts on who they should have been. What a freeing feeling to discover as I let go of my expectation of them and realized they are human too. Every session Joe would greet me with positive compliments and every time I would just shrug it off as not significant until I started to believe that I am worth more than what I thought of myself. I learned to love my messed up self and my confidence boosted and I started focusing on the positive things in my life and not the negative. It's been about 2 years since we last met and the lessons I learned through the ACOA program and his help in guiding me to love myself has continued to grow. Joe is a very genuine person and wants to help everyone whom he comes in contact with. I am sorry that I did not get the gentleman's name who assisted, but he was helpful in getting me set up, and leading back out of the building. I do want to bring attention to Briana. She was the Technician who set me up for the Sleep Study, and took me through it, start to finish. Briana explained every step of what would take place, and answered any question I had. It is a bit daunting to have to go through any medical testing, and it helps to feel at ease. Briana provided the information regarding every step of the procedure, which helps you to not be left wondering. In the morning Briana woke me, and advised me that a Doctor would review the results of my Study, and send the findings to my Primary Care Physician within two weeks. My Primary Care Physician should contact me to discuss, and to contact my Primary Care Physician if I do not hear from them. For a night spent with wires stuck to my head, and all over my body, including a wire type thing strapped under my nose to monitor my breathing, it wasn't totally unpleasant thanks to Briana, and the staff at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital.

On Friday morning when it was not any better we called her usual Chiropractor but she was or of town. She recommended Dr. Angela who was gracious enough to work Chara in. Dr. Angela is an extremely thorough chiropractor and she takes her time in getting to know what is going on and does not rush her way through adjusting her patient. Chara loved how gentle she was and how she explained what was going on and how she was working to correct it. While Chara was being adjusted, Don, her assistant gave me a tour of heir beautiful office and stupid me forgot to take photos - but I will next time. It is so pretty and so serene. I curled up in the massage chair and could have slept their all afternoon. They have a masso therapist and a reflexologist who take appointments as well as a nutritionist! I am so excited. I am planning to do a ten day detox with them! It's extremely affordable and gets excellent results! I will post an update and let y'all know how it goes!

Went through the IOP and Aftercare programs following a very difficult experience at the Rush Blvd…read moreinpatient facility. Fortunately I had a capable, kind, and engaging counselor throughout this process and I was able to live my life between sessions, then report my progress and experiences in our group sessions. I thoroughly enjoyed the process and my freedom to take my recovery into my own hands and pursue the paths that make the most sense to me. I received a great deal of encouragement as well as a good amount of constructive activities to work on / present to my peers. The office staff and case manager were simply wonderful to work with, and when I successfully graduated from the Aftercare program, they sent me off with a warm goodbye and lots of encouragement. They're certainly doing something right over there and truth be told, I almost miss the process. Very empowering and a very helpful step in my overall recovery! I still continue to do what works for me in a program of my choice, am flourishing in my personal and professional life, and I can't appreciate enough the fact that I was given room to grow without needing permission to do so, or to follow prescriptive pathways in my recovery.
