Our first stay here and we found it quite comfortable for the price and location. Easy to get to and close to Cherokee Nc without the noise and traffic. This is not like a high end hotel, its a cabin in a mountain setting. There is no TV, no WiFi, and we could not get cell signal, but that was just fine. There was a selection of DVD. It also had an air conditioner. All in all, we stayed 3 nights and it worked great for us. read more

Buyer beware: extremely misleading. And there's nothing you can do about it but lose your money. This is a very dishonest business. We rented a cabin for 6. Ended up with a totally different cabin - with one full size bed and a sofa that did NOT pull out. No extra blankets, pillows etc. The air conditioner was broken, the stove did not exist, the toilet leaked from the bottom onto the floor, there was barely enough counter space to make coffee, no firewood, 3 fuzzy channels on the tv, only enough dishes for 2, the mini microwave did not function, and a long list of other complaints. Good luck reaching any staff while you're there. Though the area is pretty, you will definitely not get what you paid for!! read more

We needed a base camp for our fall mountain getaway and Panther Creek Lodge and Cabins fit the bill perfectly. I was trying to stay near the Blue Ridge Parkway, within an easy drive from Atlanta for our Friday night arrival. Cherokee was the right location. Next choice- hotel or cabin? We like the outdoorsy freedom a cabin allows but for a short two night stay, we didn't want a fancy place that we would feel bad deserting all day long nor did we want the added "cleaning fees"- again- Panther Creek was a perfect fit for us. Located 3.7 miles up a mountain, our cabin- Nature's Landing- overlooked a small but cheerfully noisy stream. The cabin was cute, clean and affordable. It had the necessities needed to fix a nice dinner Friday night- grill, stove and a few serviceable utensils. The Jucuzzi tub, located in the main room, was more "Saturday night bath" than sexy adventure setup. The bed was clean and comfortable, if not "heavenly". Just what we needed! The grounds were lovely- family friendly and we enjoyed a nice swing outside as the sun set and the stars lined up to dazzle us. I'd love to go back to Panther Creek Cabins again. read more

We are absolutely disgusted at the way this property, via booking.com, handled their charges prior to our check-in. We were charged $100 at the end of April 2018 and were not scheduled to stay until June 15th for two nights. We read the fine print. We went over, in detail, the booking information via the booking.com app and truly believed we knew what to expect. Well, we were grossly mistaken and ended up canceling our reservation and will be going a different route, regarding our Fathers Day weekend stay in Cherokee, NC. We should have known better, when correspondence from the property came with emoticons. We were told by the property we should have been charged for one full night as a deposit and the $100 would be kept "as is," like they had a choice. No email prior to the charge, so it came as surprise, after we had already read and understood the fine print. We were not expecting to be charged until 14-days prior to our reservation. They literally stated they could not refund our $100 immediately and it would take 15 days to refund and that it was "out of their hands." I am not only contacting booking.com, but the Better Business Bureau and plan to blast them and their negative business practices on Twitter. Beware of this property and giving them ANY of your financial information. "Panther Creek Cabins said: Well I will process your refund but can tell you it will take 15 days sorry out of my hands." Then this, "You have a new message from Panther Creek Cabins Panther Creek Cabins said: Ms Gouldie for your information that is what I can do I hit the refund button but the company of transactions of credit cards informs me they take 15 if it were up to me I would give it back as fast as they took it! So don't get high and might with me miss I'm doing my job and your reservation needs to be canceled by you and unfortunately not me." Then THIS, "You have a new message from Panther Creek Cabins Panther Creek Cabins said: As per your request 1. You have received your refund 2. You canceled your reservation 3. Horrible experience. I paid my deposit and immediately received an email demanding full payment or they would keep my deposit and cancel the reservation. I obviously couldn't stay there after the horrible interactions with the owner and they refused to return my $160 deposit. I would avoid this place at all cost. read more

The bathroom in the Apache Cabin is for men (stand-up) only. The toilet is right next to a wall, and the other side next to a shower wall. Ladies, you will not like being able to clean yourself. This should have been in their description, I would never have rented for almost $100. per night. I feel ripped off. read more

So unacceptable, we had 2 nights booked and they insisted to be paid in advance. Now we know why. We left after 5 minutes of seeing it. We were disgusted. I even took photos of the place and surroundings because what they show on website is very misleading. Mold covered air conditioner in window and cracks throughout the plywood walls, what appeared to be wet plywood directly above the bed. Bathroom smelled so strong of toilet deodorizers that are usually used in urinals. Bathroom floors and mirror were filthy as well. Dust and webs in corners and dust covered items hang above bed. The biggest disappointment was owners state they would not refund any money voluntarily. They are not providing what you purchase so please beware. I hope they at minimum fix the issues and not take anyone elses money. So although our trip cost us double because we had to leave and find a clean room elsewhere, we love Cherokee. Such a same to be taken like this. A celebratory wedding anniversary trip after a 2 year battle with cancers and we get scammed from the start. They should be ashamed to do this to people. Don't stay at Panther Creek Lodge! Owner finds ways to tack on illegitimate charges. A timid stray dog wandered onto the porch. We showed compassion and gave it some water, a snack and some love. At NO TIME did we permit the pooch in our room. When I got home I found an extra $149 charge on my credit card. I contacted owner and she said it was a dog charge and insisted we had a dog in our room. WE DID NOT!!! Not even for one second. Miriam insists we did and is not removing the bogus charge. My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary and we could not have been happier. Nestled high up on the side of a mountain, the surroundings were a pristine wonder of natural beauty. A babbling creek ran just feet away from our cabin and lulled us to sleep every night. The cabin itself was a beautiful, all wood, cozy getaway complete with fireplace, stove and fridge. Did I mention the jacuzzi to ease your tired muscles after a long day of hiking thru the serene forest, because it's in there too! The owner, Miriam, was so polite and helpful, arranging for us to have firewood and fishing poles, as well as a list of places to see and things to do. My wife found a diary for the cabin in one of the drawers, and took great delight in recording our time there for future guests. Thank you so much for our wonderful getaway! read more

The pictures on the website were misleading as they were of ALL of the cabins; not the specific one we were staying in. Could have been my fault, but I was definitely disappointed when I showed up to see where we were staying. No hot-tub, cramped bathroom and bedroom with dingy linens, and power that flickered. We were without power the second night at 8pm until checkout the next morning. The guests next door tried contacting the owners but had no luck. Granted there was a storm so it wasn't their fault; but concern for guests would have been nice. read more

Great place! loved it all. Cleaner than my house and the bed was VERY comfy. The décor is vintage Rez. I'd call it "deluxe vintage rez"... The rain on the tin roof while rocking on the porch? I recently took my three grandchildren to their first visit of Cherokee and stayed at one of the cabins. After returning home I received a bill for additional charges that were not accurate. I contacted the company and was told that the bill would stand. I do not recommend a company who falsely quotes one price and then adds inaccurate charges after I stay. read more

When we first called to get reservations we were told the reservations didn't start in the middle of a weekend that they only started on Friday night. But 30 minutes later I get a phone call back stating they would take our reservation. It was obvious to us at that point they had a vacancy and didn't want it to sit. Panthers Creek Cabins are quaint and rustic to a point. The cabin is adorable and we loved the creek rushing water passed the windows. It's not that far from Harrah's or other attractions of the Cherokee mountains. . We never met the owners. No one checked to see if we were comfortable. When we did contact someone about the froze up a/c we were told to turn it off and not to leave it on during the day when we were not there or running all night that it was cool enough to use the windows. We received no fresh Linens or towels while we were there. The so-called cable / satellite TV had so much snow on it you would have thought that it was January. And cooking utensils were to a minimum not hardly big enough to hold anything. The mattress is way to soft, once in we rolled to the middle and couldn't hardly roll out. Had we read more reviews we would not have stayed there. There is no smoking in the cabin which was fine with us the only place you could smoke was on the porch where you had a screened-in door but the note inside said if it smelled like you had smoked inside you would be charged $250 clean-up fee. It also said no pets but something or someone had chewed on the remote control for our TV. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! We stayed at these cabins every October from 2006 to 2012 and never had a problem until October 2012. All of the previous years the cabins were clean and the management was courteous and helpful; but when I called to make reservations in mid 2012 for our regular October stay I was told that the property was under new management, and I had no problem with that until the actual stay. I should add that we brought a group of four couples with two children every time we went. But this stay the people living across the street were screaming and drunk two nights in a row and we were forced to call the police. In addition the rooms were filthy when we arrived the rooms were filthy and not nearly what we were use to from prior years. On top of all of this we were informed a week after we left that we were being charged a large amount of $$$ for not taking out the garbage and for leaving the porch rocking chairs outside; a TOTALLY FALSE CHARGE. So we disputed the charge with our credit card company and the response of the owners was that we SMOKED IN THE CABINS??? The problem is that none of the couples that went are smokers and one couple has children that are allergic to smoke!!! Total lies. Do not stay here; we have no problem that the cost of the cabins is relatively high, but now that the quality has diminished, WE WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN. read more
