Nice little coffee shop/bakery. Authentic Mexican bread and the prices are not hiked up for the tourists.

This is a nice little bakery/coffee shop near the touristy area. The prices aren't hiked up to get the tourists. I had an iced latte and my husband had a mango frappe - both were delicious. The baked goods look fresh and they have bread coming out of the oven throughout the day. My husband really wanted a concha but the lady said those usually are ready later in the day 4-5pm (we stopped by at 1pm). They have a nice little patio area to sit in and they offer hot premade sandwiches if you are in a pinch for a quick snack.

Open from 7am until 10pm daily at 10 Avenida Norte, Panificacion Castillo is well known amongst locals who can frequently be found filling the outdoor patio, and much like other Panaderia in Quintana Roo the Bakery offers a wide variety of choices at bargain prices. Easily located on an otherwise residential block, despite signage obscured by cloth awning and umbrellas, it is upon entry that patrons will find no less than sixty daily Breads, some more affected by Playa Del Carmen's humidity than others, though Corn Cake as well as Bread Pudding are each well suited to such and thus well-executed. Less impressed by a two-layer Cake sandwiching artificial Berry Cream, along with an over-baked Bolovan, Panificacion Castillo's Concha is respectable if not top-tier while the Conito filled with Vanilla Cream shows well for laminated Pastry in such a climate. Taking a chance on buttered Bread with Sugar, a recommendation from the clerk that reminisces of Crème Brulee thanks to its crunchy top, those seeking Castillo's best item should head straight for the Tricolor Polvorone that is soft yet crumbly with three distinct flavors and a dollop of Jam at the center.

They have birthday candles for all ages. Pretty smart and convenient.

They stay open late and have a wide selection. The coffee is super strong, so don't do like my wife and have some before bed. Oops. Only reason I didn't go with 5-stars is because I was a bit bummed the cream-centered chocolate cupcakes had a drop of cream in the center. This was the primary reason we went. My wife really enjoyed her pound cake though.

Cappuccino and tasty sweet corn bread

Great local café with affordable prices and kind staff I tried their Cappuccino and frappucino (which is thick and a little bit sweet for me but it's tasty and refreshing in the hot weather ) I loved their sweet corn bread! I didn't like the palmier that much though.
