What a great concept! And the food is amazing! It seems that this is a new restaurant/concept but it totally worth it!

I am pregnant, I couldn't fit my wedding ring because my fingers were swollen, so I decided to get a temporary replacement. I was sold a ruby ring with small diamonds surrounding it. I was told it was worth $6743 but got a "discount" and got it for $2560. It has been 2 months and 2 of the small diamonds have fallen out out. I went to get it appraised today and the jeweler told me the ring is worth $700-$800 at most and the ruby isn't even real. I can't believe this store is getting away with scamming people like this. I will never return.

Same deal as another review stated Run. RUN FAST!! DON'T BUY FROM THEM. THEY ARE DISHONEST CROOKS…read more THE SHOPPING EXPERTS GET COMMISSIONS FROM YOUR PURCHASE. YOU ARE NOT GETTING A DEAL. I had a ring with me that I have had independently tested and apprised twice so I knew what the market price would be before I walked in the store. I used that to gauge the honesty of their appraisal. They valued it 5 times less than what it is insured for currently, that was the 1st red flag. They won't answer your questions until they are sure you are buying something, 2nd red flag. The salesman said it is best to just ask what is the lowest price they can accept for the piece. So I asked he said $700 then he asked if I had the coupons because I had the VIP card from my ship. I said yes then the price because $294 and he would throw in a necklace. Well I looked online once we were back on the ship and the exact same Saffi Kalima ring was $295 online and with the code they advertised on the site the same necklace was free with purchase, red flag #3. So the starting price online was the same as the "bottom line price" with the 60% off. From the quoted prices of the diamonds I looked at I would be 1000 times better off going into a reputable store in the USA. Jared, Tiffany & Co. even Zales had better prices with more transparency. If they will not tell you the price of something walk away. If you tell them exactly what you want and the price is more than any of place you have looked walk away. Same thing with the bamboo sheets store I already own sheets, duvet covers, and other items. I went in the store asked the price of the robe it was $130 and I can get a better one that I know is exactly what it claims to be for $80 plus 20% off with free shipping from the store I normally buy from. Even the vendors selling serape blanket want 39.99 usd for the blanket and it cost less from Amazon. The whole shopping center is a tourist trap. Just go enjoy the ship while others are wasting their time. Just in case you had any doubts the papers they folded and put in the pretty envelope did not include the GIA certificate, red flag #4.

So excited to celebrate we decided to go into the city of Cancun (Mercado 28) for souvenirs. Like other reviews, taxi dropped us at Opalo. Immediately we were greeted. Then an English speaking woman greets us. She was so kind and helpful. They gave us a mini map of the Mercado. She aimed to be married to a Mexican, but she was from Chicago. (Blonde and lighter skin-believable). I noticed she had a slight Mexican accent, but I assumed from living there a long time. She claimed she was the owner. She said she also owned the restaurant next door (building her professional reputation with us. We felt at ease. Since we were in a very nice jewelry store with A/C everyone seemed professional, engaging, and warm. Helpful! We shared that we had gotten engaged and that we wanted moissanite. Michelle led us immediately to the case. We were looking at platinum over sterling moissonite rings. I think because my fiancé and I were just so overjoyed to be engaged we had rosy color glasses in. I am 49 and a CEO. He is an accountant for the govt and retires next yr at age 52. We're no dummies (so I thought). I was thorough w my questions. I asked a number of times 'this isn't CZ? Not crystal, etc.' Michele ensured us this was moissanite. Assured us platinum over sterling. I know the haggle game in Mexico is real. They came down to our price after we walked out graciously. $1,000 (US) for an engagement ring, groom's ring, wedding band for me. We thought this was an excellent price since I had been shopping for moissonite rings in solid white gold. I know my prices. I asked multiple questions on getting paperwork for info. Size/karats of stones. Platinum over sterling, etc. Michele assured us Tom would be emailed documentation. I asked her how "the office" would know what to send since the info wasn't on the hand written receipt. She showed us the number at the top of the paperwork and that is was recorded. It all seemed to make sense. There was an assuring answer for everything. AND, since she seemed to be American, we trusted her. We had to return the next day to get my ring sized down again. I overheard a man saying that this was his father's business (the man looked to be in his mid-50s). I thought/ hey! Michele owns this place. Then I thought- could be her brother in law. Anyway it was all a lie. She said we'd have emailed paperwork by Monday. She called Tom's phone when we made our purchase. She said- (again to gain our trust) "If you have ANY problems, call me and I'll answer personally." I said 'what is the stone breaks or something happens'. She told us it was a lifetime guarantee and that she'd send a COD package for us to send back for free. All so assuring!! So tonight, Tom tried to contact her. Nothing! I think she got his number to block us. Anyway, we now have to start the procedure of refusing the charges and we start off our soon to be marriage with fake junk. I mean- I feel like we should've known and I feel so stupid. They were just so trustworthy. DO NOT PURCHASE anything from these scam artists. If anyone has a contact in Mexico to help shut them down, or file an official report I'd be thankful.

That's when I glanced over and spotted this gem! I had never heard of Pineda Covalin before so I decided I'd Google the store before walking the 30 feet to check them out in person :) Low and behold what do I spot, gorgeous silk scarves. Honestly, the beautiful male and female models standing outside of their door also did the trick at catching my eye. I was curious! Do these two stunning individuals work for this store or are they possibly fellow travels looking like they just stepped off of the runway. Hey, models are abundant these days in Cancun - with everyone visiting Tulum I wasn't quite sure. Now, I know! They were models and however much they get paid it worked to lure me in and make a purchase. I walked over to check out the goods and loved the friendly service and introduction to the line. Created by two designers Cristina Pineda and Ricardo Covalin the lines purpose is to share the richness of Mexico traditions through its products. I really liked several designs but ended up selecting a very beautiful bright piece that looks great against a tan ;) They also made sure to ask if I wanted the tax refund form which was nice. Before boarding my flight I went over to submit this paperwork. Tax free shopping for visitors is always a plus. They accept USD and pesos but since I was fresh out of pesos I paid in dollars. Save your time and don't waste your pesos on garbage, if you are looking for a beautiful reminder of your Mexican vacation Pineda Covalin is a great store. I look forward to looking up the line in the future for other new designs. You can say they are the Hermes of Mexico ;) Luxury silk at its finest.
