My food was ok. It was not bad, but it was kind of bland, and I wasn't loving it. It did come out super fast though.

I was SO EXCITED to find out that there is a Cookshack in College Station!…read more We stopped here for lunch on a Sunday before heading home. We were BLOWN AWAY by the number of college students, dressed in their Sunday's best, openly praying over their food before enjoying some awesome chicken. It was SO NICE TO SEE! We ordered a family meal (20 pieces), 2 sides of fries and a chicken sandwich meal. We paid around $40. Great value! The food came out quick and arrived hot and fresh. I had a slight "issue" where I thought my chicken wasn't fully cooked and the manager reassured me that it was just breading but happily remade my sandwich to give me peace of mind. I REALLY appreciated that. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, literally leaving "not a fry left behind." The size of my chicken on the sandwich was HUGE- had to be hanging off the roll by 2" on each side! Staff were phenomenal. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Love the laid back decor. Plenty of seating inside and some tables outdoors as well. Definitely recommend!

Really good! In fact, it's a contender for my favorite fried chicken in town. The only undecided…read morewinner so far is Mess Waffles. The Cookshack has a different vibe and feels more like a lunch or dinner spot, while Mess is the perfect breakfast place. Alright, who am I reviewing again? Right. The Cookshack has some great options, and my wife and I went for the Chicken & Waffles. I chose the hottest seasoning they had--pretty sure it was ghost pepper--and yeah, it was spicy but didn't make me miserable. There was a lot of food, and it definitely filled us up. My wife got mac n cheese with hers and really enjoyed every bite. The cashier was nice and attentive. The atmosphere is great for a lunch or dinner date. Plus, they have large booths, which we really appreciate.

Raising Cane's has really good food. Their Chicken Strips are great, as is their toast. The fries…read moreand coleslaw aren't bad at all. I'm not crazy about their sauce and can't understand why they don't offer ranch, at least. On our visit, the only problem was a (nice) cashier who couldn't make change. I'm not holding it against Raising Cane's (in fact, kudos for hiring him). But I'm damn sure holding it against our crappy education system that doesn't even teach kids super basic life skills like making change. If you ever get the chance to vote for school choice, please do. It's our only hope.

I came to Cane's at about 6:45 on September 2nd, 2025. I ordered a 3 finger combo, naked bird…read morestyle, and was told to pull forward to wait for my food. I don't always appreciate this because my order has been shuffled around before, but I understand restaurants need to keep drive thru times down. They told me to go to the curbside order pickup, which was completely full, and I had to ask where it was. As a result of the curbside order pickup being full, I was forced to come into the store to get my food. Nobody asked me if I was picking up an order or what I needed, and the worker then practically walked out the door with my food, I had to CHASE him and call out!! When I then told him that no curbside order spots were available and I was forced to come inside, he stared at me blankly, mumbled something, and then walked away without giving me a real response. Terrible service, and I'm deeply disappointed in this location.

Spent the day at Texas A&M and had to go get Laynes for lunch!…read more One cannot go to CStat and not get lunch at Laynes..Canes and Zaxbys do not compare.. However, I will say that all the chicken tender places since Covid went from their signature large tenders to half size smaller tenders. Not sure why or why they never went back to the larger size tenders after Covid. I ordered a 3 piece and you can see how small the size of the tenders are and I remember when two of the tenders would of equaled 1 tender before Covid. The service was great, the tenders were hot and fresh since made to order and the fries were crunchy. Nothing wrong at all with the service, taste of the food, the only complaint is how tiny the tenders are now. With all that said of course I'll still go to Laynes and glad we have one in Houston by my job.

I was quite impressed with the texture, breading, and seasoning. It wasn't overly greasy and spice level hit the spot. Temperature: we dined in to experience the freshest chicken strips possible. It did not disappoint. I think I burned the roof of my mouth on the first bite but it was worth it. Presentation: nothing to praise but no complaints either. See the photo and judge for yourself. Ambiance: small and cute. Nothing nice about it but fairly clean. Staff: friendly but not over the top. The verdict: Chick-Fil-A is still #1. Then Layne's. Then Raising Cane's. Yes - in my opinion - Layne's beats Cane's. And all 3 are way better than Whataburger and Dairy Queen. Don't believe me? Try it for yourself!
