We've been to Panchos a few times now and overall I'd say our experience has been good. The big plus is their portions are generous. Their quesadillas are large and their fries are filled to the top in the to go box. The food has been tasty and good. I really like all the salsas. The lady taking orders isn't the most friendly but she does double check your order before you pay which I like. The restaurant is very small for indoor dining so it seems most people to go their food. There is a small parking lot right next to the restaurant. It's hard to believe we pay now $15 for a quesadilla and $17 for fries but here we are.... read more

Panchos Authentic Mexican Grill - Updated menu and prices but very good food - Mexican Near Me - Chula Vista, California

The food here is really good, but it's expensive! Del Mar prices in Chula Vista. Also, not a fan of the big difference in price between cash versus using a card. But damn they have the best machaca, and even my $11.45 bean tostada was amazing! I would eat here more if it wasn't so expensive....but nowadays I know it's expensive to have a business- cost of food, rent, employees etc. But it would be great to have a discount card. read more

Yesterday I was craving some delicious Mexican Food. My Mother wanted some Caldo de res so I decided to order from Panchos! I settled on the Jimmy Johnson Burrito. I highly recommend it! Tender Carne Asada, guacamole and cheese. Absolutely delicious! My Mom let me know that the Caldo de res is top notch She finished the entire amount that was ordered. Will definitely be back! read more

I'm a bit disappointed. I was expecting to have a better experience. I ordered a BIG CALI. I paid $20 and I got 10% Carne Asada and 90% french fries and guacamole and sour cream sauce with a touch of bean paste.. halfway through my burrito was falling apart. Im disappointed. I come down multiple times a week due to going to church. Had I had a better experience I would probably recommend this location to at least 50 other grown men. Which would've done y'all great business. I would've personally probably made two trips a month.. Unfortunately, since you guys wanna be frugal, give small portions when I order a large meal I'm deciding to never show up again. I get things are expensive in this industry in this world, especially California but if you want to touch a man's heart, don't screw with his food.. The lady in the front is very gracious and polite! read more

It was so good we ordered here twice. The carne asada tacos were a hit. The amount of food for three tacos was enough to make a fourth or fifth taco. The ingredients were fresh and cooked fresh. Great late night spot! read more

I came to this establishment in the morning around 11am to buy a california burrito, carne asada burrito and a carne asada taco. First off the cashier was very nice but she did not speak any english. I i should say it was limited . It took for me to say my order very slow in order for her to put it in the register. But thats okay what do you expect? The reason for my 2 star rating was because of the flavor of their food. The california burrito fires looked like it was overcooked or recooked from the day before. The meat marinate tasted as if it was spoiled. You could not put enough salsa to take away that bad taste. The carne carne asada flavor was the same. For it to cost 30 dollars for those three items, it did not taste of quality. read more

Overpriced food. The menu price is a cash price! I was very disappointed to learn this at the end of my transaction. A small fountain drink was $4.01 and my two fish tacos were $12.78. I did a double take when I saw the amount and I asked the guy "what's the deal with this" when my receipt said $18.26. That like $6 an item. Is this a California thing or what? He seemed apologetic so I do respect that as I know he understood my concern. The salsa bar was not well maintained or stocked at that time. Messy but maybe they were busy before I got there. Ok. Look. If the prices were half what I paid for what I purchased I would have given 4 stars, which is a great rating. But I'm really bothered as I feel burned and overcharged. My small sized fountain drink should not be $4.01. My fish tacos were good but the price did not match what I was given. Tacos Gordos, nearby is where it's at. I should have gone there for some rocking tacos fully loaded for about $3.50 each but unfortunately I did not see fish tacos on their menu when I was there recently. read more

Be warned, it is a highway robbery. The prices on the menu are "cash prices" and when they ring you up, it's a different price. What happened to "I'm gonna charge you $0.50 to pay with your card." Living in SD, there is no shortage of taco shop options. I mean, you throw rock in any direction and that sucker will hit 4 taco shops before it touches the ground, so standing out is important. To me, the big win at Pancho's comes in the form of their variety of burritos. Theyre one of the few places Ive been to that offers burritos with mixed meats. Want carne asada AND adobada rolled up in one freshly cooked, warm, diet-destroying tortilla? They've got you covered. They also offer up a breakfast burrito with eggs and carne asada which is surprisingly tough to find. Super fresh, friendly service and they crank out the goods quickly. Give them a go. read more

One of the worst carne asada burritos I ever had. The meat was salty, the guacamole was bad and over excessive and pico de gallo was also bad. Their salsa of choice , the green salsa was about to go bad "bubbling" and had no flavor, I wish I could tell those cooks to their faces how bad their food was, but fortunately I will never go back, not worth it, it's bad food. 08/09/2024 12:00 - 12:30 pm read more

I ordered through doordash and my experience was pretty pleasant. I only ordered the #5 chicken chimichanga, and i thought it was so good. It was decently priced and it's (surprisingly-ish) hard to find a burrito/chimichanga with shredded chicken and bell peppers & onions. Most places are usually just rice and/or beans with huge cubes of meat inside. So win for me! It was extremely juicy and flavorful, I honestly expected much worse bc of the reviews & the fact that there's a million Mexican restaurants in SD... and it was like 11pm. So kudos to this spot I'll definitely be ordering again. I just wish they put more rice and beans on their plates though .... Like just a lil bit more. Service was fast for DoorDash. read more

Watching the boxing matches and decided to grab some Mexican food. Haven't eaten here in a few years and decided to give them a try. They are located across the mall on busy "H" Street with a small parking lot. This go around we opt for a big breakfast burrito and a ham/carne torta. The big breakfast burrito is HUGE (see my hand reference pic) and the torta is big too. Now I didnt try the breakfast burrito but apparently it was a good, very good... (although in all honesty he's had a few beers but has also had a ton of breakfast burritos from different locations).... as for my torta. Ive always liked their beans... but the carne asada was too overcooked and flavorless for me. Otherwise the torta was perfectly cheesy... perfect flavor. The other downfall, no salsa... how do you order food from a Mexican taqueria and NOT get Salsa!? That is definitely a no-go and just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. For a spending $$$ and salsa cost pennies on the dollar... it is a necessity in any Mexican food establishment... reading other reviews... we are not the only people this has happened to. Please read your reviews and change this issue!!! read more

Such horrible customer service. Ordered a burrito and was given and charged the wrong one. Cashier kept saying that's what we ordered, we just wanted to pay the difference of the two burritos to get the correct one. They used the same burrito and just added French fries to it. We asked to have it remade as this burrito they gave us has ingredients not even listed in the one we ordered. Cashier made us pay for a whole new burrito to get the one we asked for from the beginning. Spent $33 for one burrito in the end. Cashier was extremely rude and wanted to keep saying it was us that ordered the incorrect thing. We didn't and we paid plenty to have her mistake corrected. read more
