We had seen this truck parked here all week, but this night was the night I would commit to trying it, and I am happy I did. I can't even remember the name of the sandwich I got, but I know it contained three meats and that was enough to this carnivore to get it. The sandwich was delicious, it hit the spot, just what I needed at 3:30 in the morning, I highly recommend you try them no matter what time of the day you get the craving. BTW, the location on Yelp is wrong, or they have a second truck.

So we found this food truck not far down the street from the DoubleTree. Their menu was not that hard to understand even for non-Spanish speakers for the most part, but then when it comes to something novel ("What is a fongo?"), the lack of an explanation and choppy English-language skills might not help very much. So after a bit of pointing and gesticulating, we ended with an artisanal burger and some fongos pollo. The food was OK - freshly prepared and quite substantial. For my taste, it relied a bit much on grease and mayonnaise. Still a decent taste of local fare - or IS it considered authentic local fare? Apparently, they are pretty big for a food truck - 5 or 6 different locations at least, depending on which truck you want!

Our Server was really great and never rushed us throughout our visit. The restaurant itself is really big, yet has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. Love the Plantains hanging all over. The Cuisine is a good variety of Carribean Creole, which I absolutely love. For appetizers, we had Bacalaitos and Queso Frito and for my main dish, I had the Milanesa with Rice and Beans. I wasn't crazy about the sauce and cheese on top of the Milanesa, but it was still good. Both of the appetizers were amazing! El Platanal has various locations, with the one in Carolina being the original. I really enjoyed the ambiance and the menu has alot to choose from, so I look forward to coming back and trying other items on the menu.

Loved the tropical all Plantain theme and how spacious this spot is. They have live music during the day and it gets really busy. I'm sure it's a fun spot. The servers were helpful and friendly as always in Puerto Rico. We ordered Arroz manpostiado with turkey but you could also order pork instead. Rice was good. The Octopus salad was $25 good size portion. The fried cheese with guava sauce and mozzarella cheese sticks as appetizers were ok. The plantain soup ironically did not taste like plantain. Was not good. The texture was just off more like gooey. Not sure maybe because it was a rainy night not too many people but food was not the best. We did not try the authentic Puerto Rican dishes such as Mofongo as it was way late at night for heavy food. The place looks great for birthday celebrations and great for big gatherings.
