The restaurant has a small, cozy vibe that makes it nice for a casual lunch spot. The food is also great. I got the bistec en la crema, which was steak with cheese on top, accompanied by rice and beans. The rice and beans were very tasty, as was the steak. I also got the tostadas in the appetizer, which were not as good. Overall, I would definitely recommend if you are looking for authentic Mexican food in NB. 4/5

We stopped in on New Years Day for dinner. While not busy inside the restaurant, we could see many take out orders waiting. Service was very fast. Restaurant was very warm, inviting and clean with holiday and traditional Mexican decorations throughout. We had chicken tamales, huge, good proportion between the chicken, sauce and masa. Some of the best to be had in NJ. Birria quesadillas excellent. Sauce well seasoned, just spicy enough. The Mr Cactus house carnitas amazing - well seasoned, huge portion. Will definitely add this as a regular stop for us!

I decided to return here for lunch on my fiancés birthday. I was disappointed to see they appeared to have removed majority of their gf tags. The food was flavorful and presented in an eye-catching way, so we both appreciated that. I am cursed when it comes to getting any frozen drinks, so naturally, no frozen margaritas for us because the machine wasn't working. We did enjoy our traditional margs and once again, loved how their presentation looked. I do hope they return to offering more gluten-free items like they had before, I would certainly return more often if they did.

My chicken breast was good (everything else on the plate was bland), and my daughter's green enchiladas were ok. My husband's birria quesadilla was very good according to him and my daughter. The service was awful! The waitress handed us iPad menus and never said to order on the tablet or if she was going to come back for our order. The menu is not extensive, just fyi. You can only get taco platters with all the same taco meat, not a variety. The enchiladas are also only 1 way for all three on the plate. Whatever...I can deal with that, if the food was great. It's not. The black beans were room temp with no seasoning, the corn on the cob - no salt, no butter. The guac was also bland. We were never offered water refills and she never asked us if we wanted a drink until after our meals came. We didn't, but it was said with a huge sigh and eye-roll. As a side note, this was a grown woman waiting on us, like an abuela, not a teenager. She never came back to our table, until she saw another waitress come over and bring us boxes for leftovers - that we had to go to the bar to ask for. Oh, important point - the restaurant was not busy, so she was not in the weeds. The restaurant could be an amazing spot if the service was better and they seasoned the food. It is NOT worth the money.

If you were going past here too fast you would definitely miss it It is a small restaurant that faces a big hole in the ground in New Brunswick. Parking is New Brunswick parking, if you've parked in New Brunswick you know it to expect. If you've never parked in New Brunswick try circling around a few times and if you don't have any luck with the meters you might have to pay for one of the decks, fortunately there was one right around the corner from this place. When I came in I already knew what I wanted to try, The namesake menu item that has been pretty popular lately. There were a few tables downstairs, and there was a stairwell upstairs that I never ventured up. The few times I visited here I've always found first four seating and never felt the need to see what was up the stairs. The tacos came out a little while after ordering and they looked really good. I think this was my first time consciously trying Iberia tacos and they were very good. I might not be the best person to judge this is I've never had other ones. But I was satisfied with what I had and the broth that it was served with was delicious. I have been back since, and will likely be back again. If you're in the mood for some good tacos you should check this place out.

The restaurant serves delicious, fresh food in a very homey atmosphere. The servers are kind, attentive, and so helpful; from time to time, you might even be served by Pancho himself, who is an absolute gem! We started with the guacamole and chips, followed by the nachos, where you can customize them with your choice of meat. For our entrees, we ordered the Huaraches with steak, which is a large, handmade, slightly fried tortilla topped with beans, onions, lettuce, crema, and cheese. We also got the Tacos, which come five to an order. You can choose up to two meats, but we stuck with the classic Al Pastor. The meat was so tender and flavorful, served with the traditional onion, cilantro, and lime on the side. Finally, and my personal favorite, we had the Picaditas. Like the tacos, you can choose two meats, so we went with Al Pastor and steak. Similar to the Huaraches, these are four smaller, slightly fried homemade tortillas with green and red sauce on the bottom, topped with lettuce, onion, and cheese! To wash everything down, we had the homemade Agua de Jamaica (hibiscus tea), though their Horchata is also delicious. Overall, this is one of my favorite spots; it reminds me of my childhood, and the food is just as good as what you'd find in Mexico. If you're looking for an authentic experience, this is it!
