Very good, large arepas and deliciously fresh juice from a stall tucked in the rear of the market. I was mostly drawn to the fresh maracuya (passion fruit) juice but decided to try an arepa mestiza, described on the menu as a traditional Venezuelan arepa filled with fresh cheese, arugula, and avocado. I'm glad I did. It was a nice change from all the jamón and heavier foods I had been eating on vacation.
All of the ingredients were fresh and played well together. The green sauce was a little more like chimichurri than what I know guasacaca to be, but nevertheless it complemented the arepa well.
Although the seating area might be a little cramped because of the stall's space limitations, it was nice to have a place to sit and rest, away from the crowds of the market.
I only took a star off because there is the smell of seafood and other raw meat from other stalls. Can't be helped, but did affect the enjoyment of our meal. read more
