This is not your typical Czech restaurant but does great food in the town of Roudnice nad Labem. It…read moreis down an alley and the interior looks like an old time cellar. The decor is very rustic with heavy wooden benches and tables with brick walls and wooden ceiling. There is a nice patio for the Summer and in the Winter it is converted into an enclosed area with heaters, but it is nicer to sit inside by the fireplace. There is a smoking section but there isn't much of a separation, as I still came out smelling like smoke, but at least no one is blowing smoke in your face.
There are just two beers on tap which are Pilsner Urquelle and Hoegaarden plus a full bar.
There is really nothing traditionally czech on the menu. Although they have tataracek on the menu, it is made with smoked salmon and does not come with garlic toast, but it is very delicious. There are also a few steaks on the menu, but I haven't had any luck ordering steaks in Europe so I ordered the grilled veal liver, which could almost be a czech dish. The liver is served with gnocchi and baby spinach, but there wasn't that much baby spinach with it since it is tossed in with the gnocchi. Someone also ordered the 3 types of grilled beef with they do on skewers then take them off the skewers when they're served. All of the meat was pretty tender but cooked until well done. I don't think there is a restaurant in the Czech Republic that knows how to cook a medium rare steak.
