PFS believes in the importance of outdoor learning, and often students can be found studying microbiology in a local stream, finding writing inspiration among the trees, and gaining confidence in themselves when working in the garden or exploring the woods. Teachers respect the authenticity and agency of each student, and encourage and empower them accordingly. I have worked at PFS for four years as a teacher and within the administrative team, and my sense is that the teachers who choose to be here do so because they truly care about the other members of the community, and enjoy the daily challenge of helping one another be our best selves. We seek to discover and nurture the joy in learning and in contributing to a community of folks who care for one another. Diverse learners are welcome at PFS and teachers and staff work hard to 'meet them where they are' while encouraging growth and student ownership of their learning. Students who need extra support at PFS are evaluated, and given accommodations in class and supported by a student study team. Families are encouraged to be active partners in the students' learning, and are welcomed regularly on campus for events. Teachers are in regular communication with families through student advisory teams, and there are many opportunities to connect through the Family Association.

Our 2nd daughter started shortly after she was born in 2014 and is still there in a pre-K class. Our experience here has been amazing. Our older daughter never complained about going to school, she made lots friends, some of whom she continues to see outside of LGA and finished kindergarten knowing how to read and fully prepared for 1st grade in public school. Our younger daughter looks forward to going school every day and is having similar experience that her sister had. Through the years that we have been coming to LGA, we have gotten to know the owner/director, Miss Angela, and several of the teachers and administrative staff. It is clearly no accident that LGA is as successful as it is. Miss Angela is always there and takes a very hands on approach with every aspect of the school. Any time we have had a problem or concern, Miss Angela was extremely attentive and responsive in addressing our needs. All of the teachers that both of our girls have had took a genuine interest in their well being. They greet the children with a welcoming smile in the morning and they stay on top of their game in meeting the children's needs throughout the day. The administrative staff is courteous and professional and come across as warm and caring to the children - and they seem to know every child's name...very impressive.

In 5 years he learned to crawl, walk, eat solid foods, potty train, make friends, learned to talk, learned the alphabet and numbers and counting and math. He made friends and celebrated birthdays and holidays and played soccer, basketball and went on the fun bus, and played in the sprinkler, had pajama days and even a pre-k prom. We weathered the pandemic- thankful for a place that stayed open as parents who couldn't work from home. We moved, we dealt with biting and crying and croup and all the pink eye. And we did that all with the support, love, and genuine care from the staff at LGA. While we are sad to say goodbye we are so so so thankful and acknowledge the role all the staff have played in these important years of my son growing up. Thank you is not enough of a statement. Thank you for taking such good care of our boy and for helping us to be able to work knowing that he was somewhere safe, loved, and able to grow and learn.
