Our children have been patients with Palouse Pediatrics for four years now, and we have always had wonderful experiences with all the doctors. Our usual doctor is Dr.Katie, who we love, but we are happy to see any of them! We feel listened to in appointments, and feel that our kids receive wonderful care. This place is excellent. It's well worth the drive from Moscow. I'm extremely picky on doctors and at one time was actually willing to drive 2 hours one way to go to the doctors I grew up with. However, with rising gas prices that wasn't such a great idea anymore. So I started asking around to see what doctor or office was recommended and I kept hearing Palouse Pediatrics so I gave it a shot and never looked back. There are four doctors here, including a father/son team. I had no problem making an appointment, and the office was easy to find. That's a huge plus for me because I'm notorious for getting lost. The waiting room has comfortable chairs and for the kids there are coloring sheets, books and even a fish tank to watch. The wait time can be a bit on the long side, but I've only waited more than 20 minutes in the waiting room once. The examining rooms are small, but they all have interesting pictures on the walls as well as some little border murals that appear hand painted. The waiting time in here can be a little long. My sons see Dr. Alvin Frosthad and he's excellent. He puts them at ease fairly quickly and my oldest son refused to cooperate with him only once. My oldest son has some developmental delays as well as some psycholigical problems. I have no problems getting referrals from him at all for anything I need. The few times I've had to call him and ask a question, he always returned my call within 24 hours and often the same day if he was too busy to take the call at the time. My girls see Dr. Ariyawansa and she is excellent as well. My girls love her. She is very knowledgeable and it's obvious she likes kids. I have no problems asking her questions and feeling like she was talking down to me. What I really like about this office, at least from the two Doctors that I have experience with, if they don't think something will work, they will flat out tell your so. Both doctors are ok with herbal remedies as long as you tell them what you're doing. They often have recommendations in that field as well. They do push for vaccines, which I don't do. Early last summer, my 3 yo daughter Deedee got bitten by a spider; her elbow swelled up the size of a satsuma. Not only were they able to squeeze her in but we weren't even sent home with a prescription. Although my MIL was insisting I get bendaryl and stuff to help with the swelling, Dr. A flat out said that benadryl would do nothing for her. She had me give Deedee tylenol only if she got a temperature or complained of it hurting. I put aloe on it when Deedee complained about itching and I only had to give her tylenol the first night. The swelling went down in two days like I was told, and there is now just a very faint mark on Deedee's elbow. Price wise, they're on the high side, but they do accept Idaho Medicaid. read more

Too many bad experiences to leave the health of my kids in their hands. They're unprofessional and often uniformed.

Worst pediatrician I have ever been to. Physician DID NOT wash hands between checking the diaper area between my children. That also means that all the other equipment in drawers and bins was contaminated as she dug around for tongue depressors and other items. Their nurse had the absolute worst people skills I've ever encountered. Everything in that office feels dirty and outdated, including the paperwork for their "well child" check. There is nowhere else I'd rather go. The girls up front are fabulous and always so eager to help. The nurses have it together, and like the previous poster the doctors are always available. I also have had bad experiences with the billing office, though. COMPLETELY different phone etiquette and overall treatment then when I call or walk in the doctors office. There is a tiny blonde girl who is up front sometimes and I have to rave about her, she is always really friendly and helpful, I think her name is Kristy, and I also agree with the previous poster that Anna is my favorite nurse! And Dr. Ariyawansa is my favorite pediatrician. My daughter is ALWAYS seen the same day, and I feel like they actually listen. Thanks Palouse Pediatrics! read more
