I found a few items- but my big find was a large crock- I am thinking it was early 1900's- but I had never seen one with a grip handle on one side and a loop "finger" handle on the other. It also had a wonderful blue stripe around the shoulders of the pot. I snagged it as a gift for a fellow potter who is building a new studio and gallery and wants a museum portion representative of the area and the generational potters in the region. Yes- I am a big ole weirdo squatting down to turn giant pots over to look for makers marks or signatures. Turning it around checking all over for any identifying marks. 1800's and 1900's American pottery was largely unsigned, which makes it extremely difficult to track heritage pieces. Anyway- I gave said crock to my friend and she was so delighted! I believe the coffee shop has a separate listing- but that is also a wonderful perk to this shop- coffee and treats on site! And yes, you can take your coffee around the antique shop! Thank you to the lady who carried that huge pot up to the front for me!

We were greeted warmly upon entering and I chatted with the knowlegable and friendly volunteer long enough to learn that they offer First Friday events with music, food and beverages and a chance to meet the artists of some of the work. While I didn't see anything I absolutely loved this trip aside from a few photographic pieces, this will be on my 'must stop' list in future visits to SC to see what new offerings they may have. It can be best described as a "co-shop" space... there are a few different shops offering a variety of ideas from vinyls, art pieces, apparel, to herbs/wellness. Not only do they sell items but they tend to have workshops on Fridays, and Saturdays that vary from sewing, journal making, herbal mock tails and more. We loved Errapel located here as we were able to pick herbs out that would help with certain wellness issues like anxiety, insomnia, concentration and more. Every style, medium, and vantage point you can think of (or not know about) is here. It welcomes you via the front windows and swaddles you as you walk further in. And the team here are some of the friendlist folks you will meet downtown. And recommendations? They have plenty. They've been there for over two decades so they know a thing or two. Of course they can give you background information on each of the artists' whose work is in the shop and sometimes even some insight on the piece itself. But I also want to highlight a aspect of AOB that I constantly make use of; framing. Once you make it to the back (after joyful hours of looking at everything while en route), you will see a workshop area. There one or two team members will always be hard at work (though never too busy to answer questions). I have brought quite a number of posters, prints, and paintings over the years in search of their guidance in what frame to choose, how to frame it (matte/no matte/thickness of-color-etc.), and even the optimum glass. And every time they have come through. When I ask them to push me out of my comfort zone (aka, solid color frames), they did and my piece was the better for it. Their presence and their services are invaluable to downtown and our community. If you haven't been, or if it's been more than a week, I recommend you stop in soon. You can thank me later.
