I have been a customer for 20 years. In the past 5-10 years, their customer service has declined continuously. From the lack of communication regarding annual inspections, the inspection itself being thorough, not proving the report in a timely manner, etc. I looked into switching companies but it costs too much so I have to put up its it. I posted this review in hopes of keeping someone new to the area from choosing them. There are too many other companies to choose from. Don't choose this one. read more

They have shady billing practices. Do not leave your card on file with this company. They randomly charge it.

results are important but so is customer service. I called to make an appointment and due to a change in plans i immediately called and cancelled letting them know I would have to call back to reschedule. A lady took my called and said it was taken care and confirmed no cancellation confirmation was needed. Then the week before the originally made (and cancelled) appt, I got an email saying to confirm my appointment. I immediately called and told them that this should have been cancelled a week or so before. The gentleman said he was cancelling it and apologized for the mixup and again when asked said there is no cancellation email/confirmation. Fast forward to today when I called to make an appt, they told me they would not give me the special I was originally booking under for $75 for initial inspection BECAUSE I had cancelled my appointments multiple times. To add insult to injury after I still explained what happened and asked if she would be able to honor the $75 due to there NOT being multiple cancellations, she repeated, NO MA'AM, NO MA'AM. With "customer service" like that, sounds like I dodged a bullet. I'd hate to see what they would be like to deal with if there was an issue during service. Ewww to them...too many companies out there to give your business to that won't treat you this way due to THEIR INCOMPETENCE! read more

Called them out for an inspection. They found termites. Was charged $250. When asked how much treatment will be, told me they weren't going to do it. Came on their website states free inspection. Well, what was the $250 charge? Wish I had read the reviews before calling. read more

They do the bare minimum and no more. We had new kitchen appliances delivered and cockroaches were hidden in the cardboard boxes (very common we were told). Despite my telling PE that their current treatment wasn't working, they kept at it and wouldn't listen. I was so exasperated that I called NewTec Pest Mgmt and asked for them to come evaluate. THEY TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM. No more roaches! It wasn't that hard, PE. Why couldn't you listen to your customer? read more

I would like to acknowledge some EXCEPTIONAL customer service from one of the Palmetto colleagues- Eric is doing an outstanding job and is well-deserving of recognition. This lovely gentleman goes out of his way to make my needs feel like a priority! This is the 2nd time he has shown up for me with his invisible cape. Not only is Eric extremely professional and knowledgeable, but he is kind and always follows through, which tends to be a lost art in recent times. I'm so impressed with him that I will be switching all of my pest control over to Palmetto in the New Year. read more

Regular price increases without prior notification, since the ownership changed . In addition, the process is not what it used to be for the Termite bond. Disappointing. read more

I was charged for a service that never happened! I received a bill from them and when I called to ask them when that pest control service was completed, they gave me the date and said the person was at my home for 45 minutes. I was home that day and never once saw a pest control person walking around my house, I even checked my security cameras to see if they showed up and nothing. When I told the lady on the phone that was not true, she put me on hold to talk to her manager. The manager said, he could be out there tomorrow to treat my house and I told them, No. I requested a refund which she said she could not do. Needless to say, I requested to have my service cancelled. I will give my money or recommend a dishonest company. Sadly, I have to give them 1 Star in order to post this review, they deserve 0 Stars. read more

I have been a client of Palmetto for 9 years but today is the last day they will ever get my money! I have always been enrolled in auto-pay so I never had to worry about my bill. They must have recently changed their system because it looks very different now and during this change my payment info must have been lost. My bill was due February 1st unbeknownst to me and instead of calling, emailing or sending me a paper bill in the mail to tell me about the bill, Palmetto decided to send me to a collection agency for $80! This is such nonsense! How can you send a client to collections after the problem was on your end and you made zero effort to get payment from me??? Horrible business practice there! I would suggest finding a different pest control company that actually cares about their clients. Good riddance Palmetto! read more

Unfortunately, I cannot leave a positive review for Palmetto Exterminators (Summerville office). I was not notified in advance about their visit-- the technician arrived unexpectedly at my rental property without any prior communication. Additionally, I never received an inspection report following the visit. I only became aware of the service after receiving an incorrect notification about a renewal payment being due. The entire process was disorganized and frustrating. I'm very disappointed with the lack of communication and follow-through. read more

Until recently I would have given 5 stars. I have been using this company for over 15 years and 3 different properties. Has the ownership changed hands recently? There have been some inconsistencies. We've used Palmetto for 4 years. Always been pleased. Today Josh Kittrell was our technician. He was so informative regarding some questions I had about red bugs. I highly recommend this company and this technician if you are lucky enough to get him. read more

I basically inherited this company from the previous home owners termite bond and it's been one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. What really made me write the negative review was the latest issue... and at this point there have been so many this review would be a novel. I received a notification on my security camera that someone was in our back yard, which is fenced off and gated. Before calling the police I asked my neighbor if he would look around the house to see what this guy was doing on my property, and he stated there was a Palmetto Exterminator truck parked "in our yard". Apparently it's normal practice for this company to just show up without any notice. Our annual inspection isn't until February, so are they showing up 2 months early or 10 months late? I tried calling their local office, and there isn't anyway to speak with anyone, just to leave a message (which I did, and no one ever called back). Our last inspection was in May, 2022... over 17 months in between inspections doesn't seem like good business if you ask me. read more

Palmetto Exterminators - The interior wasn't accessible because no appointment was made and you just randomly showed up at my house - Pest Control Near Me - Charleston, South Carolina

Terrible communication. I kept the termite bond when I bought this house in 2020. Every year they are to come out and inspect my house at $350. This inspection was supposed be through with a report. I have sen two inspectors since moving here 4 years ago. I spoke to the last who was trying desperately to convince me I didn't have termites. It seemed super sketch. He confirmed it when he was going to his car and fill out the report and be right back. He got in his car and left. I have never received a single report in 4 years. I called several times but it's hit or miss if they pick up. Do not leave a voicemail, it will not be returned. The person I did speak to was as friendly as porcupine. She was very prickly. Needless to say that I no longer use them. I paid over $1200 for absolutely nothing. Buyer Beware! read more

My parents owned their home in Charleston from 1963 until my father died 12/30/2019. I assume that the house was fundamentally sound and couldn't possibly have termites since it was protected by Palmetto. Boy was I wrong. After demoing some of the kitchen, there were active termites! The entire kitchen floor had to be demoed. See the photo. I called Palmetto and they sent a tech within an hour to spray and kill the live termites. Then I waited for someone to call about the damage since they provide $250,000 of damage protection. I never got a call. I called and said that I needed to file a claim and they acted like I was from Mars. I finally was told that the owner could come out in a few weeks. That's when I lost it. I demanded that he come out asap. So the next morning I met with the owner of Palmetto and my contractor. The owner did everything he could to distance his company from any responsibility for the termite damage. He said that there is a committee that will meet and decide if "they want " to provide assistance. I felt like we were asking for a handout. This damage is due to their negligence and I"m glad my parents didn't fall through the floor during their lifetime. There are lots of glowing reviews about their pest control but I am a customer who can tell you that their termite protection is terrible. It is costing us $30,000 to repair the damage so the estate can sell the home. I really feel like my parents were taken. read more

Not sure if it is just me but each time I have called this company, I have had poor customer service. I'm new to the area and when I purchased my house, the previous owners had a termite contract with PEI. I elected to continue using them because, quite frankly, I was too lazy to shop around. We were billed in August for our annual termite service so we paid it; our renewal date was Nov 30. We didn't hear from anyone so we called and were told that someone would call to schedule an appointment. We didn't receive a call back so called to day and was told that the home was previously inspected in Jan 2018 and they would be out sometime (any time in 2019) to do another inspection. I asked why they wouldn't be coming out in Jan 2019 and was told there really is no scheduled timeframe for monitoring. To the manager: Let your receptionists know that tone and friendliness can help a lot when it comes to customer service. While I will use you for termites (because I didn't do my homework), my pest control will be moved over to Stark - Your ladies could take a few lessons from Jennifer at Stark. They may be a bit more expensive, but it's worth it not to have to deal with folks who act like I'm doing them a favor by giving them my business. Tonya Willis read more

I have tried repeatedly to have a claim taken care of and nothing has come it. I have had a contract with Palmetto Exterminators for over 5 years. Nothing happened! This has been going on for months now. I will not be renewing my contract! read more

This company was supposed to protect my elderly parent's house from termites. But instead , termites caused extensive damage .

They hold our termite bond and have for fifteen years. Thorough inspections and no problems.

Terrible. The office seems to be too busy to return calls. The owner of the company is on a "6 month sabbatical". The termite manager waited 4 weeks to return a phone call. Great service guys. Im looking for someone else for my three local properties. read more

I used Palmetto Exterminators for my termite bond/treatment and pest treatment on my former residence. It was hit or miss depending on which technician you received. Some left detailed findings with photographs and suggestions for improvement, when others left no information. I had no issues for the 2 plus years I used them but I called and canceled my service because I sold my house. They still did a service after and charged me for it. I spoke to Alexander and he left me with the impression that he understood since I gave him information that verified I had spoken to someone at their office but then sent an email that since he could not verify what was said in the conversation I would still be responsible for the bill. My new home is less than 5 miles away and we will not be using them again. Be careful! read more

I signed up for a yearly service having my whole house treated for termites. I realized that I was never contacted by the company again after the expensive initial treatment. I called the office only to be told that my contract was canceled due to lack of payment. I explained that no service had been rendered. They could not explain nor show a bill for service. They said they had sent a bill to my home. Only the address was incorrect. But this was my fault and not theirs. Palmetto Exterminators has had our Termite bond since we bought our current home in 2018. We also use them to do a quarterly extermination. Have always had good service from their technicians until recently. That being said, the other day I noticed the door to our crawl space was open and set to the side, as if someone had accessed this. The only thing I could think of was when the termite tech came out last it got left open. No big deal - things happen. I called Palmetto to see if they could send someone out next time they are in the area to put it back, and to make sure no 'critters' had gotten into the crawl space because the door had been left open (we live on a small pond). Turns out they show it was 4 months ago that they were out (and was told "the technician wouldn't have left it open"). I can only assume this has been open since then, as we do not spend much time in the backyard over the winter months (and I have never opened it). This was a little more alarming to me given the potential amount of time passed. However, I was basically told "we're not going to come out (to fix something we caused), but I can give you the number of another company that can come inspect your crawl space" (for a fee, of course). So, long story short - they left my crawl space open for months, potentially allowing critters access, and they refuse to rectify the issue. I don't feel like I expect Too much from any company when it come to customer service, but what I do expect (and respect) is a company that recognizes potential mistakes and does what it takes to make it right. Didn't really appreciate the attitude of "too bad - not our problem" I got from them. Think I may start searching for another termite company to give my money to. read more

Awesome. Just had our first termite treatment for a bad termite problem that the other company (lightning) failed to see or even do a proper, complete inspection. The folks from Palmetto were exceptionally detailed. They arrived on time with all the right equipment and supplies. I wanted to add an update to my earlier review. After I posted the review, a manager, Garrett, reached out to me to apologize for the way I was treated. Garrett was incredibly nice, professional, kind, and apologetic. He completely turned my opinion around on the experience I had earlier. If the company is in hands of people like Garrett, then I can trust they are going to care for their customers well. Thank you, Garrett! They have the worst customer service ever. After receiving a bill in the mail, I had to call 3 times to finallt get someone on the phone to ask questions about the bill. I was told someone would be in touch in June to schedule the pest controller to come out to our house. We did not hear anything all of June and decided to call in July. I called 4 times this time. I left messages which were not returned. When I finally got someone on the phone, I was told she couldn't help me and I had to talk to someone, but they were on the phone with another customer and she would call me back. I waited 1.5 hours and didn't hear anything. I decided to call back. No answer. I waited 30 more minutes and called and the person that answered was rude, sarcastic, and treated me like I was an idiot. I am highly disappointed in their customer service. read more

We have been a customer of Palmetto since purchasing our home in West Ashley 4 years ago. The quality of service has been consistently poor and our recent experience with them is unprofessional and quite frankly unacceptable. We have had to follow up several times to get service/inspection visits and even still, wait months more for the actual visit, only to have the tech show up hours late or not show at all. After our most recent visit, the tech told my husband that "all was good" and then last week, over a month later, we receive a statement in the mail that they are "not renewing" our contract. Though no "active infestation" is noted, the letter states, in bold, "any damage caused by the infestation is excluded." How did we go from "all good" by the inspector to not renewing our contract?? Shady much? NONE of the items described in the report, one of which - and I kid you not - is a bush that grows in our backyard - were discussed with either my husband or I. I completely understand terms of a contract but when there is ZERO communication with the customer about items that "need to be resolved" and then a notice of non-renewal is sent with no warning, it reads shady and extremely unprofessional. Especially when notated items include a bush that grows in our back yard and a water drip from the condensate line of our brand new HVAC - literally the purpose of the condensate line. If you're looking for honest, professional, quality work, I would STEER CLEAR of Palmetto Exterminators. read more

The technician who services my home is very nice. We have had some roach and rodent issues since we live on the Island. The tech promised 6 weeks ago that he would come to look and help put some rodent bait out where needed. He never came. Since I am not here full-time, and since I have to pay someone to come to let the exterminator in the house, I scheduled the technician to come to work on the interior in places where we have seen roaches while I am in town. I waited two hours past the scheduled appointment. When I called to see where he was, the receptionist told me he had come to do an outdoor service that I had not requested. First of all, he did NOT come for that as I would have seen him while I waited. Secondly, the receptionist who made the appointment had obviously messed up. And she was not even apologetic that they had made a mistake. So now I have roaches and rodents and I wasted a vacation day waiting on a service technician who never showed. This is not the way to do business and is not good customer service. read more

My house had a termite bond with this company when I bought it, so I kept it. There wasn't a problem till we moved out of state and it became a rental. One year we received our bill at our new address, the next year we did not. When I called to figure out why we had not been billed they had an address, phone number and property manager assigned to our account that was not ours. They claimed we gave them this information and they had documentation of it. Initially they told me I would not have to pay for a new bond since their system had the wrong info, then the sent me a bill for a whole new bond. When I called they said the errors were my fault and they needed to start a whole new bond. When I printed out the contract, they had a phone number on there that was not ours again. After placing this review a manager contacted me and did work with us to fix the issue. I was told that even though I updated my address on my bill that it goes to "corporate" and occasionally does not get updated in the system. Even though they did not charge me to restart my termite bond, the technician who went out to the house called me when I left explicit instructions to deal with our property manager. I was also given a link to use an online system for future checks that did not work. read more

We just spent $250 for a CL100 inspection of a historic house that we were interested in, in the town of Summerville. After receiving the report, it was obvious that it was a complete waste of money. The inspector was incapable of moving rolled in insulation that had fallen from the floor joist to actually inspect a large portion of the crawl space. The inspector noted at least twelve places in the crawl space that had termite damage that was no longer active, almost all of them right around the foundation, which implies that there was damage to the sill plate. The report had two photos of termite damage in the crawl space and both of them were floor joists that were in the center of the crawl, nothing around the foundation. To sister a floor joist is a two or three hundred dollar fix, to lift a house and replace a sill plate is a fifty thousand dollar fix, yet they focus on the the simple problems. They provided a fourteen page report of which ten pages spoke about how they were not responsible for any mistakes in their report, give me a break. Why would I pay that kind of money to get a professional opinion when I could have driven to the Home Depot and bought a white suit (chemical suit), gloves and a flashlight for thirty bucks and inspected it myself. REALLY disappointed. read more
