Palmers Painting is the worst painting company I have ever interacted with.
TLDR: Trash and paint spray everywhere, new paint peeling, broken items and no accountability.
My landlord hired Palmers, who she knows from church, while we were gone for 4 months to paint the deck and exterior of the house. I left mid October and came home the last day of February. My understanding was that by mid November it was completed.
I arrived home a couple weeks before my husband and when I pulled up at home just stood there with my mouth open going WTF.
The driveway was covered in overspray, the rugs I have outside to keep the car from scraping the steep driveway when leaving the garage were covered in overspray, the trash cans have overspray, the outdoor benches, the BBQ...... basically anything and everything, even the acorns from the trees had overspray. The worst thing though.... My SUV was covered in overspray.
The deck was also not painted, just the railing which... was already peeling. There was painters tape and paper left up all over the place and things such as command strips had been painted over and will now rip the paint if removed.
I immediately contacted my landlord who reached out to Palmers. I wasn't present for the call but my understanding is that he was cursing while speaking to her and denying everything. I was told he needed to see it and would be reaching out to me to set up a day to come out.
When a couple weeks had past without word I reached back out to my landlord who reached back out to Palmers. He finally called me March 25th. It took 25 days for a call.
Palmer claimed he was super busy and couldn't come out till mid April. Come April 15th when I hadn't heard anything back I called him to find out the exact date. He then pushed it till the end of April. I pushed for an exact date and he gave a date of April 26th.
The 25th I messaged to confirm the appointment. He then said that due to the cold weather he couldn't come out to work and would need to reschedule. I very politely but firmly let him know that no work is scheduled. That this is him coming out to confirm the mess he made and the damage he did and regardless of the weather I still fully expected him to show.
When he and my landlord came out he told me the overspray all over the place could be pressure washed off. Claimed I should have washed the paint off my car right away... knowing full well that I was out of town while he worked and he made me wait 2 months to get out there. Never mind the fact that it isn't my job to clean up after him. He also told me I should have moved my car..... again I was out of town as he knew.... and he didn't ask my landlord to move it who had keys to my house and knew where my keys were inside.
When I pointed out the cabinet he broke he claimed it was that way before but when I pointed out pictures I had before and the overspray he got inside the cabinet, he changed his excuse to the fact the "cabinet is cheap" and he just tried to move it and it broke (I've moved it before without an issue). He told me I needed to "watch my tone" because he has children that are my age when I was very firmly correcting his lies. This showed me he lacks respect for people younger than him and expects us to just accept his word because of his age.
When we spoke of the paint already peeling he blamed the fact that it's old wood and said that he scraped the old paint off. I told him you need to sand it too and he flat out told me, 3 separate times, that he doesn't do sanding. He told me he scrapes the old paint and then paints the new paint.
He claimed he could paint my BBQ due to the overspray but phrased it as if he was doing me a favor and not fixing his mess. He also said he didn't mean to get paint on my car, but when I showed him the quote I got for the repairs he said it was too much money and I would need other quotes which I agreed to go out and get.
While waiting for the quotes, which I wasted my time and gas on, my landlord let me know Palmers wanted pictures of the damage. I went ahead and messaged him pictures of the damage he had done and he had the nerve to reply and tell me he didn't do it. Claims he covered my car and has proof he did (which he sent a photo of the house with a small part of my car in the corner which shows it wasn't completely covered - zoomed in photo included in images) and that "Someone did that on purpose to make it look like I(he) did." I let him know that the pictures prove he did it as it as there is a very clear line where the paint stopped due to the small corner he covered. The rest of the car was not covered and has paint spray everywhere.
I had to go through my car insurance to get this handled and he is upset that they are going after him for damages. read more
