The Palmer Arms is a nice Gastro Pub located in the village of Dorney on the B3026 between Taplow and Eton, just 5 minutes from the M4 Junction 7. There is a large car park to the side and a pleasant Beer Garden to the rear.
There is a large sign proclaiming Best Dining Pub in Buckinghamshire an accolade it received from The Good Pub Guide 2006/07. There is a small bar area near the road, but the rear of the building is dedicated to the celebrated restaurant.

I went for Cream of Tomato & Basil soup with Rustic Breads: a nice bowl of soup swirled with cream and served with a single thick slice crisp white bread. The only snag is when I read rustic breads I expected more than one type, and the dish had presumably sat under the heated lights on the pass for too long because the obviously fresh bread was going a bit dry and hard on the outside.
I followed this with Medallions of pork, mustard grain mash & wild mushroom sauce and added a side order of buttered spinach with nutmeg (£2.50). This was very tasty and unusually the pork was served a little pink.
The whole meal was well prepared, the glass of house wine was good, the staff were friendly and helpful: recommended. read more
