After spending a week here; it is a great pleasure to post this review…read more We were allowed to check in early which was a huge relief considering we had just got off the plane. Upon entering our 3rd floor studio apartment, my partner and I were impressed with the size and layout - the entry straight into the kitchenette then bathroom. From the kitchen a left turn leads to the living area and adjoining bedroom. As I study, I was personally impressed with the large corner office area that divided the living room and bedroom. We liked the turntable mounted tv that could be watched from either the lounge or the bed. As with any hotel; there is always a fair amount of outside noise like other guests opening/closing doors and general chatter in the common areas outside the rooms - but shouting, banging doors and walls is unpleasant late at night. If I were to make a negative comment, it would be a loose kitchen flick mixer and an oddly made bed. The matters were reported to Management but as they weren't too much of an issue for us; I hope the staff were able to correct them when we left. I would stay here again. Thank you to the Management and Staff of the Ridge Apartment Hotel for making our stay a pleasant one.

We checked out after the first night and were told we would be able to get a refund from Expedia. When I got home I contacted Expedia, they attempted to contact the Mgr for approval to refund per their policy but the property would not respond. I did finally get a refund from Expedia, but it took 2 weeks. Don't stay here, and be advised that Expedia does not have your back if you run into trouble.

Spectacular location on the Brisbane river. The rooms are spacious and comfortable but the decor…read moreis a bit dated. Wonderful bed and spectacular large tub. Bath gel that bubbles is one of the sundries provided. My room has a spectacular view of the river and bridge. The service is friendly but I had to call twice for more hangers. Several times the phone rang endlessly when trying to call room service. The front desk finally picked up when calling from the room. I wanted a drink by the pool and no one ever answered the phone so I gave up. I have never experience such difficulties at any other hotel, let alone a luxury hotel. They did send someone right away when my bathroom TV was not working. I did enjoy my week long stay. I am feeling benevolent today so they did not lose a star for not having CNN on the TV. I could not believe my eyes and it took about 5 minutes to sink in. I have never stayed at a hotel without CNN! BBC News was available thankfully. I assume with the choice of 8 FOX stations that the hotel chain is owned by the Murdoch family. I did enjoy the Sky News station. Right wing commentary is more pleasing when the interviewer has an Aussie accent. The concierge, valets, maids and front desk personnel were excellent and accommodating. Management needs to resolve the issues with the room service department ASAP. They are damaging your brand.

Whilst things weren't perfect, they were very close to it, and the parts that weren't were very minor dealt with in a way that was human, rather than rude. I found that the staff really went out of their way to meet all requests. I'm giving this five stars based on a seasonal special on the room. I found The Stamford was a step up from the self rated five stars in Sydney. I'm tempted to remove a star for the excessive internet prices, however it didn't matter too much since I came with WiFi enabled devices. Still, we're in the day and age where 5 star hotels need to provide this service at low or zero cost. Whoever learns this first will have a lot of happy customers. Small things that were pleasant surprises: a Vidal Sassoon 2100 Pro hair dryer dried my hair in two minutes; much nicer that the standard wall mounted mini dryers. A shower rack that would actually hold a thing or two, spare blanket in closet stored in plastic to keep it dust free, saucers in buffet area with a central impression to help support the cup. A phone by the toilet, television in the bathroom, motion detecting lights in the bathroom, Do Not Disturb is controlled by a switch near the bed, fold out minibar with well placed power outlet for kettle, 42" television. Improvements that could be made include more streamlining for Concierge (they seem to do their best, but expect a wait), and changing the repetitive pan pipe music in The Brasserie. The motion detecting lights in The Brasserie toilets don't have motion detectors in the private stalls. If you are in there for 10 minutes or so, the lights go out, and you'll be left in pitch blackness. I had to do a pants down waddle into the main public area of the toilets, and it was so dark I had to feel my way. I thought the oversight was hilarious. More important things: sumptuous beautiful white bedding, beautiful views, polite service. Centrally controlled lamps make for nice lighting.

The rooms may be small, but what they lack in size they make up for in design and style... and frankly, if you're travelling to see your room, why are you travelling? The service is perfection - personal, thoughtful and knowledgeable. Sure, it isn't located smack in the middle of the CBD, but given it's walking distance to James St, just off Brunswick street and an abundance of galleries, stores, cafes, restaurants, bars and even a cinema, this is the perfect location for a weekend getaway. If you're clever, time your stay to coincide with one of their art exhibitions, where art is displayed on walls all around the hotel. What you MUST do however, is have breakfast on the balcony. I paid for all of my meals and I felt the prices were very reasonable. I could even afford to eat there 5 days a week on a traineeship wage. I never got sick of the food. They were always updating the menu. The kitchen staff took their job seriously. There was very strict monitoring of the staff to make sure quality and cleanliness were maintained. I tried every meal on the menu, the ingredients in each dish were complimentary. Basically it was bar food with a restaurant flare to it. Simple, yet elegant. The food was of very high quality - and it was fresh and prepared on site. I know this will probably get in the untrustworthy filter. But personally - I wouldn't review anything I wasn't giving 4 or 5 stars. I've worked in other places I would not review at all. On the 4th level…read moreof the boutique hotel lies an urban oasis where it's impossible not to relax, and Limes really has taken advantage of Brisbane's generally awesome weather (and now has cover for those rare rainy days). The fun thing about Limes is that depending on what night of the week you go, there will be something different happening. One night it's jazz and pizza, the next you could be watching a great film under the stars, and on the weekends you're bound to have a good time with Brisbane's young professionals swarming there for after work drinks on a Friday and continuing on until Sunday night. I have been many times and there's always something new to experience there. The Thursday night live Jazz is a particular favourite of mine. Limes generally doesn't have a cover charge (accepting the evenings when there is a ticketed event) but it is quite strict on it's smart casual dress code and doesn't allow thongs, singlets or sneakers. One down side of the popularity of this hip bar, is that it has been known to reach capacity easily, so it's best to arrive early and start your night there so as to not be disappointed. And hey, arriving at sunset is pretty gorgeous when you're sipping on a cold beer on a rooftop. It's also a great place to take out-of-towners for a night of relaxed fun.

They also host a rooftop movie night series and a whole heap of other themed events. Suffice to say, whether you're on a date, out with the girls or on a boy's night you'll fit in regardless at Limes.
