I also love that if you're celebrating a birthday, the café can write a personalized birthday message right on top of your drink--such a thoughtful little touch. However, when we arrived and room choices were still a bit limited, the Colony made a wonderful and significant upgrade for us and we could not be more appreciative. To say above and beyond would be understating. So...what about everything else? From the time you're greeted by the bellmen, to the check-in process, the employees could not be more friendly and accomodating. The bartenders are long time employees, and very nice folks. The servers too are great. Management has done a fantastic job creating a welcoming atmosphere where one feels right at home. The restaurant, Swifty's, is excellent. Breakfast poolside is always nice. Early riser? Coffee and a choice of newspapers are alway waiting for you. Take it outside by the pool and have a quiet morning before starting the day. The large open space in front of the City Center housed Caribbean food vendors, craft stations, bars, stage and DJ Booth. There was even a Steel Pan Band (from Trinidad & Tobago). It was a fun evening filled with Caribbean culture, food, music and over all good vibes. There were even live performances from some popular Caribbean artists such as Wayne Wonder. The range of the shuttle is also pretty far, including dropping you off at the beach for some relaxation. What really stood out to me was the hospitality and Customer Service. I have a couple of names to call out. The Bellman, KEVIN was amazing at recommendations. He spoke to us with a tone of authenticity as if we were genuine friends. He provided a list of suggested restaurants based on our interests and always offered us refreshments. Likewise at the front desk, we spoke with Jacob & Velouse who were able to accommodate us with a room with a great view. They were very helpful. And one more callout is the driver of the complementary shuttle, who was also very friendly and even helped us out when we left a shoe at our last location and did a U-turn for us The pool has limited seating space. Get there early or be OK with not having a pool chair after a dip.

It did end up raining during my friend's wedding, but they made the choice for her so easy by letting her know there was an inside option ahead of time so the inside option, you could still see the beautiful background of the lighthouse and the intercoastal, which was perfect and very seamless it was easy to transition to the inside. And there's bistro lights strung from the rafters so there's not much decorating you need to do! The space is a vintage gym and it has an upstairs that could be used for a cocktail reception if it were raining or if you have a large wedding. I believe the space holds up to 300 guests but our wedding was about 80 people which left lots of room for dancing! You are able to bring in all of your own stuff from a DJ to Catering to Alcohol which helps reduce costs. The space is white with light hardwoods and some teal accents. And it's obviously an old gym with basketball court lines on the hardwoods. Since there wasn't an event the day before ours, we were allowed to set up everything the day before so the day of the wedding wasn't stressful.
