The entrance is well hidden, even though on the side, and yet when you finally find the stairs, it seems to make sense, just not at first. Classy, great high up location that makes you feel as if you are on top of the world. They had a special on a variety of tacos, and this is more uppr class decor and was welcomed for a good evening with friends. You can look down on the beach, and while this was the evening, I bet this is a great place to take in the surfing competitions and the going-ons during the day. Very enjoyable and should be a stop on your visit to Puerto Escondido.

Also they have a consumer minimum which is annoying. If they get better food and drink choices this place would be poppin all the time.

The wait was very long to get our food. It was nice to much on complimentary chips and salsa while we were waiting. Although the food was nicely presented, the food was not as fresh as the other place and not as flavorful either. The service was not very great, but atmosphere was pretty cool. I did enjoy our refreshing drinks though. I think this place is better for drinks and hanging out, not so much as a restaurant.

I've only been there twice and to be honest, I liked Canabrava so much, I went there for 3 great dinners and for a beatiful breakfast on the porch every morning. I would recommend the catch of the day, which is usually - fresh Mahi Mahi. The steak and grilled dishes were great. The beers and mezcal flowed here, but it was always difficult to get our waiters attention. It is such a liesurely atmosphere in Escondido - it's hard to get too impatient when you're in paradise and the waves are crashing 200 yards from the restaurant. Try to get reservations and request a beachside table - these are preferred. I think the breakfasts here are also very nice. My friends had beautiful dishes, I prefer only coffee with the wonderful Pistachio mezcal crema (be sure to buy some bottles of this!!). I always snuck in a small bottle and had an excpetional pistachio coffee every morning to start the day - so damn good! I'm sure there are many, many great restaurants in Escondido, but for proximity to Zicatela, relaxing atmosphere, beach and great food - I highly recommend this spot and I will go there again on my next Escondido adventure.

My husband presented the flyer when we arrived and was told by the bartender it would be just a moment for his shot. I ordered a mezcal cocktail, which was fantastic. After about 20 minutes waiting for his shot, he was finally presented with a .5 oz plastic cup of bottom shelf tequila and was told they were "out of mezcal" as we were staring at a whole wall full of mezcal bottles. We then paid, and left. We will not be back.

We were asked to leave the comfortable couches and finish our drinks by the extremely uncomfortable table. The waiter told us that couches are reserved for the clients who spend more money. But it was ok for a white single Australian to sit on the couch drinking one beer for two hours. Not cool! Extremely unpleasant experience.
