Lots of space. Tastefully decorated. The bed was very comfortable. We also enjoyed the breakfast at a great price. We loved the town of Luarca and didn't realize it was off the Camino trail. We saw a few of the travelers staying at the hotel as a stop on their pilgrimage.

Everything is within walking distance: bars, restaurants, shops, the plaza, etc. But if you don't want to walk when you wake up, you can have an awesome breakfast in their dining room (not included in the booking). We didn't have dinner in the hotel but I hear it's delicious. When you leave your room, leave the key with the front desk. Don't worry, it's safe and there's always someone there to give you your key, and it's a real key not a magnetic card. Any questions you may have, they are happy to answer. I had to borrow an iron one day, they brought it up to my room with no problem. They even let me borrow an umbrella one day as well. Everyone told us this is one of the best hotels in Ribadeo. Spacious baths with full-sized tubs, state-of-the-art fixtures (automatic temperature control - just set it and forget it). Comfy beds (though the European practice of pushing two twin beds together instead of using a single Queen or King mattress is exasperating, especially if you awake on the seam between them). Very reasonable rates, friendly service, and efficient check in process. A minor gripe: the WiFi signal does not reach all rooms (at least not mine; room 202). A consolation is the great view of the town square and the surrounding hills. The basement level is a hostel for pilgrims on the road to Santiago - "Buen Camino!" The cafe: Located in the heart of town, it is the focal point of Tineo's social life. Great food, good drinks, fair prices. Plenty of seating indoors and out. Service can sometime leave you waiting, but then again it just gives you time to drink in the relaxing vibe and watch the world go by. The restaurant: The courtyard of the palace has been covered with a glass atrium, and an elegant restaurant created within. Perhaps TOO elegant - it is rarely busy, I think because people think it looks so fancy that they can't afford it. The truth is that the prices are not very high, and the quality of the food is outstanding. Worthy of particular attention: local delicacies of cider ("sidra") and a meat called Chosco. One beef: the lighting in here is very bright and harsh - it would be warmer and more inviting if they dialed it down a bit. Conclusions: Tineo is a great hill town of Asturias, and El Palacio de Meras is the best place to eat, drink, sleep, and be merry!

Great hotel but pricy services This hotel opened on the 10th…read moreof April 2019 and is therefore still spotless. It is very well located in front of the beach where the river meets the ocean and about 10 min walk from the church and central square. Rooms have all sea-view but it gives on a common balcony which doesn't give you the privacy you could expect nor enable you to let things dry outside, especially if you are at the ground floor. Parking is free in the street which make the inside garage at 11€/night very expensive. They are yet missing the "airport trolley" to help you with the luggage upon arrival (if you don't travel light has we do). The outdoor pool will be open for the summer. The disappointment comes from the indoor pool that is only accessible at certain hours, limited to 2 hours for a cost of 16€ per person. When you travel with two kids that is a very high cost to add or a big disappointment. Fortunately the weather allowed us to go to the beach instead. This is not clear on their website: you have to download the SPA MENU to get the price-list, the minimum being the "Circuito Acuatico" = 16€. I therefore gives only 3 stars because of this commercial issue.

We were told that this location is a marine and tourist enclave on the border of the Asturian coast. Seemed like a great location for a hotel with wonderful views. The Ribadeo Parador restaurant is noted for the dishes of Galiza but on their menu they do have other international food. Although they were known for "empanada" (stuffed pie),"lacon" (salted shoulder of pork), we were on a selective choice of dishes since we were a large group. I had from the Tauck menu selection the Caldo Gallego soup and filet of hake which were both very good. It was an enjoyable lunch with very good service.
