You can build up the space in so many ways, and if you can find the right vendors you can create a stunning atmosphere that still somehow feels intimate in all its massiveness. One fair warning if you're using it as an event space: the acoustics are a hot mess. Do a lot of pre-planning. Even at the most well-intentioned moments it was very hard to hear. You can't dispute this spot as a true Cleveland gem and a must-see on an architectural crawl of Downtown Cleveland.

The convenience of having all these facilities in one place cannot be oversold. On the rec side there is an indoor swimming pool with hot tub, sauna, steam room, and children's pool, locker rooms, pool table, gymnasium, racquetball court, running track, cardio and strength training equipment, as well as a studio for classes. The membership is limited to Independence residents, and is extremely affordable. They also offer a variety of classes and programs, which cost extra but are mostly cheap. The community side has several meeting rooms that can be rented out and configured to different sizes, a childcare room, and a lounge with couches, piano, and fire place. My favorite part of this facility is the center courtyard with two-story glass walls. It really brightens up both the community side and recreation side, and makes working out so much more pleasant, especially in the winter.

However, one lady (I'm assuming a manager of some sort) (short, gray hair, and glasses) came out of the back room to assist us. She was happy to assist me, but the second she noticed "R," her whole demeanor changed. She was rude and short with us from that moment on. I am DISGUSTED by this BLATANT racism and discrimination in 2019!!! All in all, I would NOT recommend this establishment to anyone. It's definitely worth your while to drive down the road a little bit and find a rec center that won't discriminate you based on the color of your skin.

They also offer a ton of free events of different kinds depending on your age and liking. They have a nice area in the front where they have soda machines and a nice place to study if you're a student or if you just want a quiet place to get away. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I love that you can use the website and order things and pick up at your convenience. It is always clean and organized which is always a plus for a library. It has been my favorite location I've been to in years. They have automatic doors which is great if you need help or are in a wheelchair, scooter, use a cane etc. There are lots of sitting areas also Incase you need to rest.

The facility is bright, clean, and thoughtfully organized, with plenty of comfortable seating and quiet corners perfect for reading or studying. I have to say that the library is small but very well designed and separated into - Children, Teens, Adults, and so on offering something unique to each group. The staff are consistently friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, ready to assist with finding materials or using library services. I interacted with one of their programs (culinary - pierogi making), librarians (to sign up for a program), and circulation desk (to get a library card). All were cordial and pleasant to chat with. Their collection is well-curated, with a solid range of books, media, and digital resources, and the technology offerings - like public computers and Wi-Fi are reliable and easy to access. They have a lot of international literature gems and international cookbooks. They have new books like Onyx Storm! The reads are easily found upfront. They have a huge area for large print books (event Fourth Wing). There's a big section for audio books. This library is super easy to navigate in terms of sections. I was very pleasantly surprised by all the choices. This library has a lot of very cool programs. I attended pierogi making class. My next endeavor is Dinner & A Book where we read a book and meet at a local restaurant to discuss. The read for next month is based locally (Fairview Park). This program seems to set this library apart. It's an amazing way to support local restaurants and have a local book club. I was super excited about it! And don't even think about going when high school lets out, because those kids are LOUD. I feel like an old crazy lady, but I swear to God that's what the LSAT does to you... I would much rather go to Westlake, it's only about a 5 min drive down Dover Rd. and you have much more space to study. The people at Westlake are nicer too. At North Olmsted, you can only do the self checkout and if you need help, the ladies behind the desk (who are getting paid to do nothing) really don't want to help you. I forgot my password the one day and the lady wouldn't even let me take out a book! Westlake Porter has so much more to offer, go there instead for some quiet study time.

I was there for an authors event with local author Courtney Hauser in the meeting room. Afterwards I asked Tony, the manager to kindly give me a tour. He was very enthusiastic about what the library had to offer and showed me the different areas of concentration. He mentioned recent improvements and also soon to be upgrades. Areas of opportunity: I think the restroom should be wheelchair accessible. Also able to be opened without touching the pull down handle. People with dexterity issues may have a hard time opening the restroom door because I had to pull hard. I will definitely return.
