This "business" is very obviously a way for…read morethis woman to write off her horrid vintage collection as a tax write off and does not want anyone to actually buy anything. My girlfriend and I stopped into this shop while celebrating my birthday in Boothbay. I absolutely love vintage stores, so I was genuinely excited to browse and planned on buying something. A few minutes after we had walked in, we took a quick selfie together in one of the mirrors. The owner immediately came over and, in a very rude and ostracizing tone, said, "You can either delete that or pay me." WORD FOR WORD!!!!! Had there been signage explaining this policy, or had she approached us politely, it wouldn't have been an issue. Instead, there was no indication whatsoever that photos weren't allowed. In fact, the store appears to have several areas that look intentionally staged as photo opportunities, which made the interaction even more confusing. This is obviously a quick penny-pinching move to prey on tourists, which I can assume is because her business isn't getting many sales. When I looked surprised, she insisted that other businesses in the plaza would tell me the same thing. That simply wasn't true in our experience. We had been shopping throughout Boothbay all day, visiting multiple stores, and not one had a no-photo policy or signs prohibiting photos. We were excited customers who intended to spend money there, but instead we were treated like we had done something wrong within minutes of walking in. The interaction was so uncomfortable that we immediately left because we no longer felt welcome. Afterward, I looked through the reviews and realized that many other customers describe almost the exact same experience regarding the owner's behavior and this photo policy. She has done this to SO many people that she had to turn her google views off. That tells me this wasn't an isolated incident, that she is uninterested in improving her customer service or making sales, and that this is an obvious front. There are so many wonderful small businesses in Boothbay that are welcoming and appreciative of their customers, I recommend finding somewhere else to spend your money, it would be much more worthwhile.

We arrived to find out that they are closed on Monday's and Tuesdays, however, Charles was working in yard/barn and invited us in, turning on the lights on all 3 floors of his large barn. We had a tour along with the stories of how he acquired some of his collection. The barn was neat and orderly and reminded me of the show American Pickers Antique Archeology store.

Against my better judgement, I enjoyed you, Trifles.
