Our group of 15 reserved an area for a birthday party and everything went fine. Several of the players had played here before, so I was totally outgunned. Lots of fun and laughter after a game. I thought the check-in, training, and gear set up clunky in need of streamlining. For example, the safety portion could be recorded and a waiver signed when completed. The prohibition and removal of piercings came off moralistic (as was the repetitive preaching against profanity) and less about safety and having a good time. Felt like I was back at church camp only with sniper training. Overall, it was a fun afternoon with a few round bruises as souvenirs for the next two days. Has my "Give 'em a Whirl" meter donning goggles and taking aim. Loads of fun!

so the plague of 2020 closed the track in Concord which mostly stunk even though I was just a…read morecasual visitor but I was kinda digging the whole racing thing and then "POOF!" no more racing :-( found the Race Center on Yelp a very long hour from home and while my lovely bride was away on business I found time to run down here and squander some resources! for a modest fee rental cars are available to race (crash?!) on your choice of tracks occasions and scheduled events notwithstanding... and if you want a more consistent experience cars are available for purchase in the full service pro shop. this can get really spendy in a hurry, even more so than bowling or golf, but it's faster and smaller and cars... lots of options here including a tiny oval commemorating a local hero, a flat track to show off your driving skills, a high bank tri-oval, some straight line racing and other fun!! stop in and have a lock for yourself, it's just like you remember but bigger and faster. one thing that would be way handy is if there were a couple alternate plug-ins around the larger layouts to reduce the walk for casual drivers getting back on track...

Only partially wooded, most of the 15 stations are wide open. My fellow 80 year old shooter and I looked at each other and simultaneously said, "cart". Yes, we usually walk the sporting clay circuits, but Four Branches was going to be a long, hot walk. The cart should be considered. Normally I fire pairing a skeet and an improved cylinder choke. This is workable where most of the clays are within range. But on courses with very high and very long/distant throws, I will use a modified choke with an improved cylinder. So is the case with Four Branches. One could even use a modified and an improved modified. This is not a shooting situation for sub-caliber shotguns, like 28 gauge and 420 bore. 20 gauge is OK. The clubhouse is well air conditioned and they do sell some refreshments, but not any meals, per se. They also have shot, shells, shirts and hats for sale. Josh Blayton is the general manager and he is a super guy who shoots there and is the set-up guy for the stations. A really nice guy, so say "hey". Challenging course, wear a hat and dark glasses as you will be exposed to the sun a lot.

It was in the Piedmont Natural Gas Pavillion behind left field. An absolutely incredible time. It was a beautiful night. They offered a covered section with a buffet from 5 to 7 pm. Food included hot dogs, barbeque and chicken. I was able to make a Carolina Dog with all the ingredients they had to offer. There are great views of the baseball field and the Charlotte Skyline from this ballpark. It is a very nice venue Although the Clemson beat my 49ers, we all had an outstanding time. We plan to see a Charlotte Knights game later in the summer, and if our Alumni Association sponsors a similar event, we will be there again.
