Tried this cycle boat for a Bachelorette party and lived every moment of it. Now, I must give the disclaimer that I joined at the halfway point because my uber was late. So do make sure you're at that 30 minutes early mark . So I didn't hear the initial safety rules but I heard from my group about the thoroughness of the instructions. Once I joined I was given a quick rundown of how the set up. I got to meet Leroy the dog and I could see why he stole everyone's heart. Melissa and Shawn were also great. I definitely have to say that captain/DJ Shawn has superb musical taste and kept us off our seats. Would I recommend this experience? Yes! Would I recommend you try it with Kraken cycle boats? We booked with Kraken for a birthday party and received ample communication before the event to let us know everything that was needed. We found parking by the aquarium and taking the tram there to be the most efficient and free way to approach it and learned that we were the only group scheduled for the boat, making it a private party. Captain Kevin introduced himself and First Mate Carlos, who were an absolute blast. He let the birthday boy control the music, while Carlos helped us adjust our seats. We went over some basics, and off we went down a beautiful river ride down the Hillsborough River. We came across many other friendly parties on other boats and were given ample time to break and get drinks at the halfway point. There was no pressure on us to hurry to smoke or finish what we were doing, and both Kevin and Carlos were great additions to our celebration. Absolutely had the best time with this crew on the boat, and there was no pressure to pedal either which was nice for our lazier guests. Kraken Cycle Boats are great for a 2 hr cruise on the Hillsborough River . Seats 10 pedalers plays music and does accept tips to not pedal! . We went for a friends birthday and it was very pleasant . It's BYOB BYOF . So it's your choice as to how intense or laid back you want be. They make a pit stop at the halfway point at the armature works and the river walk area for 30 minutes . My friends and I decided to check this out for a small get together on a Friday night. We booked about 2 weeks out. There was 7 of us. We all booked at different times. We had to show our completed the waiver and ID to get on. The captain was a great host. He was very polite and made sure we had a great time! He was extremely informative and super cool with about anything as long as it didn't go against the rules. We started off at the convention center went down to Armature works and back. We were on the 7pm run. They do multiples. I loved that when booking we could see how many seats were available. Not everyone had to pedal so we rotated with the other group that booked. We were a full house. You can bring food and drink just be respectful and responsible and you will have a blast! I would go back but without the pedaling lol. read more

Had the pleasure of joining the Kraken Cycleboats Crew on a chilly Friday night. The short review says "It's a Blast, It's so much fun, can't wait to go again!" However, this deserves a longer review; we arrived about 20 minutes before departure time & were allowed to board the boat & get settled. The crew assisted in getting our drinks on ice and get comfortable. The vessel is docked behind the Tampa Convention Center next to The Sail. Parking is easy and very accessible by utilizing the Convention Center Parking garage and walking 1 block past the convention center to the docks. At the set departure time of 6:30pm the Captain began the safety brief & we departed on our adventure. We headed north up the Hillsborough River towards Ulele's & Rick's on the River. Music of our choice was played and request were taken. The crew was informative about the river and sites that we were pedaling by. If you haven't seen Downtown Tampa from the Hillsborough River, @ Night, during Christmas time or any time for that matter! You have got to see it! We cruised to Ulele's & docked the boat & went to the outside bar had a drink & used the restrooms & checked out the sights. After a short stay we boarded the boat again & headed back. On the trip back we were introduced to the Thunder drinking game. You will have to take trip to understand what it is if you don't already know. The return trip was just a beautiful & just as fun as the trip up. Now for the disclaimer: I'm not a fitness nut & honestly don't enjoy exercising! However while I did help pedal a boat for two hours, it's not strenuous or over exerting, it was easy & relaxing. The trip over all left me wanting to do more trips. The whole way back I was thinking of all of the different friends I wanted to go on this trip with. Looking forward to booking another trip SOONER than later! I recommend to anyone. if you read my other reviews you know I am very honest when I don't care for how an establishment is run/managed. Seats comfy Rules there and appropriate for water craft and most importantly they were presented in an adult relaxed manner. Tone is key for that part and it was handled well. This is the best water activity you can do when visiting Tampa. I actually leave here but had never experienced the Kraken. A few of my girlfriends were coming into town and I recommended we do the cycleboat as a fun late afternoon activity. We decided to depart from their Gulfport location so we could go into St. Petersburg after. There is plenty of free parking at the Gulfport Marina and the boat is super cute with room for about 15 or so. I've been on a peddle hopper before in Downtown Denver, so I was somewhat familiar with the principle. Let me tell you, the Kraken is so much better than the peddle hoppers! First you get to bring your own alcoholic beverages and food. They have plenty of coolers and ice so you are all good. Second, you can walk around the boat when you want to dance or you just need a break from peddling (it's a lot of work!) Third, you get to see the bay and all it's beauty with a pit stop at a local waterside bar. Since there was only 3 of us, we got to hang out with another group that was a bachelorette party. They were hilarious and made our boat trip even more fun. The crew, Carlos and (ahh I forget her name!) were awesome. Playing our music requests and making sure none of us fell overboard or hurt ourselves (you know with all the drinking, it probably happens that someone does something stupid). I'll definitely take more friends on the Kraken! read more

We had the best time EVER on the Kraken Cycleboats with Sean & Carlos. The two of them made the adventure even more fun than we could've ever expected. Our adventure with Kraken Cycleboats was part of a company Christmas celebration. We were running late from our lunch and the crew was patiently waiting for us to arrive. Shannon, our Captain, and Maggie did an excellent job providing great music, conversation and encouragement under each "BRIDGE!!!!" Was looking into pedal pubs in st Pete and this was the only one that let us bring ANY kind of liquor we wanted and let us play our own music. This was everything we expected and more! It was out in the water with a beautiful breeze, coolers to keep everyone's drinks cold, ice and cups were provided. Stationary seating available if you don't want to pedal. They played everything we asked them to. There was an overhead shaded area so you don't have to be out in the sun. They stopped about halfway in where we could use restrooms and get food/drinks at the local bars within walking distance. Only thing I would change is the ability to go into the water while we were stationary and the availability of a restroom while on the beat would've been a game changer! read more

So much fun. Efficient staff!! Started right on time! Helpful staff loading our bags and food and booze onto the boat! They had ice and are organized to keep track of every single persons things. They helped mix drinks for us and set up our food and snacks. They also helped us pedal and pedal and ....encouraged our drinking! The thunder game and Roxanne were very fun! The stop in the gulf was fun! O'Maddys provided discounted shots for us with our bright green souvenir "kraken" cups! The shade and breeze were perfect! The time on the boat is long enough to have a blast and get a small work out in! The sound system on the boat is really nice and they let us play our own music. We had a few bumps in the road, including one of us whose flight was delayed and needed to store her carry on on the boat and a traffic jam that made us a little bit late.
