In Begleitung seines Pferdes Rosinante und seines Gefährten Sancho Pansa kämpfte er gegen Windmühlen, die ihm als Riesen erschienen, attackierte staubumwölkte Hammelherden, die er für ein mächtiges Heer hielt, bestand einen "blutigen" Kampf mit Rotweinschläuchen und dergleichen mehr. All diese Abenteuer waren eine Parodie auf die damals populären Rittergeschichten. Keineswegs eine Parodie, sondern ein für sich gelungenes spanisches Restaurant mit typischer Menüauswahl ist das À la carte-Restaurant "Don Quichotte": Die Speisenauswahl reicht von der klassischen Paella über Tortilla bis zu Gambas in Öl.
