I can't speak too highly of this company. I needed to ship an oak chest of drawers from Surrey to Southern California. I contacted 6 companies by e-mail, and only Gairn Kalla of Pack & Send Guildford replied. After an exchange of e-mails in which I explained exactly what I needed to do, and he communicated exactly what alternatives he could offer and how much each would cost, I felt that this would be a reliable firm to deal with. Arriving in the UK a few weeks later, I called to set up the pickup. Gairn essentially dropped everything to accommodate me. He arrived exactly at the time arranged, had all the necessary paperwork all lined up and all the customs and weigh-bill forms all completed. He quickly observed that the item was considerably smaller and lighter than my from-memory estimate form 6,000 miles away, and immediately revised the price down by 30%. I asked if I could include a stack of old photographs and records in the shipment, and he helped me load these up, with the proviso that if the load went over 70Kg, there would be a £20 surcharge. I gave him the £20 and said if the weight remained under 70Kg he could buy his wife some flowers, or his crew a drink.
Gairn asked me for my return flight details, to ensure the package didn't arrive in California before I did. I left on a Tuesday morning at 10:00 GMT, and he had DHL pick up the package around the same time. At 10:00 local time on Wednesday, just 30 hours later, the package was on my doorstep in California, beautifully packaged and protected so that my family heirloom, the photos, and the records were all free of any damage.
Internally within the US, I'd give DHL a miss for shipping anything, but Gairn Kalla & his team at Click and Send, Guildford, and DHL's international operation took such great care of me, my shipment and my time that I am awed.
