I can't say much about the school yet since we are waiting to see if my son will be accepted. This…read morereview is based on the school tour and interaction with everyone on site. My experience was great. The tour lasted about an hour and Principal Torres gave a group of 6 parents the tour. We were able to shadow each classroom and speak to the teachers. He answered all our questions with confidence and ensured us he is focused on making positive changes. Every staff member greeted us with a a smile and positive energy. What I love so far is how the staff openly told us their child(ren) were students here and even though they graduated, they are still working here. Everyone told us how much they love this school. Academically, you can see how much the kids learn. They cover every subject required for high school and colleges. Ms. Soulette's syllabus is thorough and includes expectations from students and parents. I'm so impressed with how behaved the kindergarteners were. The first graders are extremely advanced. When asked what they're doing or learning, multiple students raised their hand. When the second and third grade teacher quizzed the students, again, multiple hands were raised. They also have a buddy system for younger students! The playground structure is small but new. They have a basketball court and gym on site. Pick up and drop off was my number one concern but Principal Torres reassured us there isn't much morning traffic with their process.

Not a great experience for our family. The school's attitude is always dismissive/non-apologetic,…read more"there are too many kids to take care of the details" kind of thing. We consistently hear it from the front office and the teachers. There are rather low standards in academics, with the average that falls below national standard at least in the elementary school. The kindergarten is a complete disaster with 25+ kids; most of the staff that is directly working with kids doesn't even have educational background, yet the school continues to employ them and come up with excuses for poor outcomes.

Enthusiastically recommend MSLM for other families looking for a well-rounded education (age-appropriate STREAM/SEL) and phenomenal educators in a very supportive environment for their kids. Children learn a lot because everyone at MSLM does a great job of making learning fun, interesting, and challenging. MSLM celebrates the uniqueness of each child, with teachers regularly customizing lessons to meet the individual needs of the children. The school is very organized thanks to top-notch administration. Communication is outstanding. MSLM is exceptionally dedicated (as evidenced in part by remaining safely open in-person during the entirety of COVID). It is also a kind and friendly place. MSLM is an absolute gem. We are convinced that they could easily increase their tuition. If you're lucky enough to secure a spot for your kiddo at MSLM, jump at the opportunity. Your child will thank you.

I especially applaud their science program which wasn't there for my son but my daughter loved it and in 4th grade she still has a strong interest in science.

Kumon Math and Reading Center of Serramonte

Some of the low reviews you see here seem to be confusing locations. This is not the only Kumon…read moreCenter in Daly City, CA. But other reviews you see here are most likely those of disgruntled lazy former students who did not take full advantage of the program. Trust me, I would know from experience... I was a Serramonte Kumon Math and Reading student since I was four years old and did it for twelve years, and started working there as a teaching assistant since I was a Sophomore in high school. As a young Serramonte Kumon student, I honestly only did Kumon because my parents forced me to. They thought that it would be a great program for me to enrich my skills in Math and Reading and to get an academic jumpstart before starting Kindergarten. The Kumon curriculum consists of step-by-step packets, which guide students through the basics and fundamentals of Math and Reading. Kumon starts kids at levels in which they are comfortable, whether they are at, above, or below grade level. The program also consists of constant repetition until the child has mastered certain mathematical procedures before progressing into higher levels of mathematics. The Reading program also works the same way, by introducing children to basic phonics, reading and comprehension skills, vocabulary, grammar, essay writing, and more. Everyday, I'd grudgingly do my Kumon worksheets and loathed the constantly repetitive work load. But despite my flippant attitude towards the program, I consistently did my work until I reached higher mathematical levels, such as Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus. Later, I found myself breezing through all of my math and reading assignments throughout elementary, middle, and high school. I got excellent grades in Math and Reading and never ceased to impress my teachers. Some of my teachers even asked me to assist my peers who were struggling in my classes. This was when I realized how much Kumon has given me a great foundation in Math and Reading, despite my negative attitude towards it when I was younger. Now, as a Serramonte Kumon teaching assistant, I feel like I understand where most of the kids are coming from because I used to be in their position. Sure, Kumon isn't exactly the most exciting program or activity because it revolves around academics, but it helped me a lot. I later realized that without Kumon, I would have been struggling horribly in school and would mostly be getting bad grades. I probably would be a college kid who doesn't even know basic algebra. And let's admit it, there are a lot of college students out there who still struggle in academics. Kumon honestly helps students in the long run. Serramonte Kumon TA's are very personal, kind, and enthusiastic in teaching students. The Serramonte Kumon Staff genuinely cares about each family and does its best to cater to each student's individual needs. As an experienced Serramonte Kumon student and TA, I highly recommend the Kumon program and the Serramonte Kumon location.

Both of our children have advanced well beyond their school grade levels, and we truly credit Kumon more than their regular classes for that growth. The owner and instructor, Ms. Tian, is excellent to work with. She has always been flexible and understanding when our schedule changes because of sports or other activities. Her support and communication make a huge difference. The cost is absolutely worth it for the academic progress and confidence our kids have gained. We've recommended this center to other families and will continue to do so.

My child was having issues with his instructor and we had requested to switch our child to another instructor because they clashed the whole time. Unfortunately, instead of helping my child find an instructor who can work better with, the manager argued that the instructor assigned to our child was the best they've got(we found out later on that the instructor my child had was also the owner, so go figure). Our child used to enjoy Kumon and started dreading it when new management took over. To make a long story short, we pulled out our child from this Kumon Center and found a much better one that we are truly happy with. Also, I would also like to point out that most of the good reviews from this Center were made years ago already so don't be deceived. This Kumon place is now under new owners and they are not easy to work with. Our experience with them was terrible! I felt compelled to write this because I've come across a few parents who took their kids here but left as well-- Just don't waste your time and go somewhere else!
