We're from Anchorage but saw the kiddie pool area and made the (short) drive out Sunday morning…read more The staff at the front desk was friendly and showed us around as it was our first time here. There is all new workout equipment and a nice track upstairs to run/walk on. The pool is why we came here. The toddler/kids pool is like a mini water park which is super cool. It is open when the gym is open meaning you don't have to come during open swim as long as you stay in the mini pool area and not swim around/go on the big slide until open swim. There are two family changing rooms as well as men's and women's locker rooms connecting to the pool area. I used the family changing room with my toddler. The floor was super slick hence the one star drop (my baby fell and hit her head). The pluses in there though are a shower with a shower head you can take down and move around to easily shower your baby, plenty of towels and bags for your wet swim suits. The negatives is slick floors and in the pool there are tons of filter thingys that protrude up and trip my toddler while she's walking around in there. She didn't seem to mind but she does have several scratches on her feet and legs now. She loved the pool and I had to fight with her to get her out. Overall it is totally worth the drive out and we will have to check out the childcare area too (looked super fun when we peeked in there).

You're not stuck facing a wall on cardio equipment and each one has a tv with direct tv attached to it for ease. The music playing in the gym has been pretty good and I did notice you can snap a QR and add music to play over the speakers. The staff have been quite nice and the facility is clean. It's a little weird that there are giant bowls of candy at the front desk when most people there are trying to change or maintain a lifestyle of health & fitness. For those that are new or nervous in the gym, the circuit training is a great introduction. 30 minutes of weights and cardio, one step/machine at a time. We enjoy the hydro loungers at the end of our workouts, which is quite a nice way to relax afterwards, for a few minutes. What I don't like is the lack of privacy... sure you're dressed but whenever you're laying there, everyone that walks by looks at you like you're on display. I know, I may be weird about this, but a privacy curtain would be nice. I do wish there was a sauna or steam room to go along with the black card perks, but it's not a necessity, just wishful.

This is actually a very good gym. I started here after the Northway mall location roof collapsed…read more And this location is by far better than the Anchorage locations. (I have not been to the new Penland location yet). The locker rooms and have their own locks. The equipment is always clean. It is rare that something is out of order. (although the elevation on a treadmill has been out for a while now). The staff is nice and respectful. The gym is well lit, the sun shines through the windows well. The only downside is the 5:00 to 630 rush time is busy and the parking can be a pain at that time. All though the Penland Park location is closer to my house I will sick with this location.

Comparing to other gyms and been invited to or dropped in with it was more of a 321....and go and there wasn't any explanations movements and which didn't allow members of the gym to truly improve. Members of the gym aren't watching the whiteboard and the coaches aren't teaching to the strongest or fastest athletes but to everyone. All of this helps the overall experience to help support the crossfit. I've spoken to a good deal of coaches at other gyms and I've avoided those gyms and the coaches because they seemed to not care towards the gym.

If you've never tried CrossFit before this is absolutely the place to be. It is a very friendly gym…read moreto new CrossFitters which isn't always the case at all gyms. Coach Mike is highly knowledgeable and really knows how to work with new athletes. On the other hand, if you're a salty and experienced athlete this box is also for you. As you know, community is everything and in this gym, it is made up of super friendly, welcoming, funny & hard working people, the way it should be. In this gym you will find all level athletes. Group sizes per class vary from 2-8 +/- , average about 5. What's is extra cool about this box is that Mike is aiming to make this a high tech and results driven gym with his very successful programming and heart rate monitors so that the athlete and coaches can see the athletes intensity at whatever level they are working out in. Every single week athletes are reaching new personal records in lifts, it's amazing!! If you're thinking about trying this gym, definitely give it a shot. I think you will find it's a little bit different than others gyms in a great way. See you soon!
