Over 22 years ago I went to Dr Hernandez who truly saved not only my smile, but my self esteem too! PRIOR to going to Dr Hernandez, I had a horrible experience with a terrible dentist who butchered my four front teeth with unnecessary veneers that she had zero experience preparing and attaching. Over a year I dropping a good 10 pounds due to stress, not eating, and pain as the veneers would not remain glued on. She had ground my teeth down to little tiny tic tac size teeth, causing severe trauma, leading to PTSD, still to this day. The GREAT part of my review is Dr Hernandez. He put four new veneers on my front teeth, renewing my smile and helped me to feel like a shining star, once again. 22 years ago veneers had about a ten year shelf life. My veneers lasted a little over 21 years!! Ohemgeee! This was solely due to Dr Hernandez's expertise, experience, knowledge, and not to leave out being a true artist, perfectionist and truly caring about the well being of his patients ‍ To make a long story longer, jump forward to today. After 21 years with my four veneers (that were only expected to last 10 years at the time) one eventually broke while I was eating chips and salsa Being me, I panicked, calling the office leaving one too many messages after hours ha ha. The office called me the next morning and got me in that day. Dr Hernandez discussed my options and we agreed on crowns this go around. My veneers were removed with no pain and temporary teeth created that seriously, no one could tell the difference! He is that good. Once my new crowns came in he attached them and due to my bite he creatively had to make crowns that were unique to my teeth and my overbite. Confident these will last the rest of my life. Happy 100 percent for over 22 years with everything Dr Hernandez has done to my teeth, the care he has provided and his staff. AMAZING through and through. Do not hesitate to visit this dentist. This is the BEST dentistry office I have been to in San Diego! My first visit here was due to an accident with one of my veneers falling off that was done by a previous dentist. When I called, Betty was able to squeeze me into their busy schedule right away! I was so nervous for my appointment because I get really bad anxiety that I avoid going as much as I can. From start to finish of my appointment, it went way better than I expected. Dr. Hernandez has such a calming presence that it eased my anxiety. The entire staff here is so kind and caring. I have since been back for X-rays, fillings, crowns and cleanings. Since I don't have dental insurance things can get pretty costly but they always work with my on that. First of all, if you walk out of there with out any treatment, you're golden! If he can't find anything to work on, he'll say you should have preventative fills. A wise dentist once told me, once dental work, always dental work. Preventative fillings just ensures you will need to have them redone in a few years and next thing you know, your needing a crown or even worse, he over drills and a toothache starts and now a root canal. This is what has happened to a friend on mine. The worst a friend witnessed was the front desk gal changing the supposed cavity one surface to two surface, this means he needs to charge more for the filling. You've been warned! read more

Unbelievably smooth, professional, and friendly practice. I'm here in San Diego for work and had a previously filled cavity "chip" off. I debated waiting until I got home to get it fixed, but decided to handle it while I was here. Based on the amazing online reviews I decided to visit Dr. Ricardo Hernandez at Pacific Beach Smile Studio. From the moment I walked in everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. I had prefilled my first time patient forms through ZocDoc so check in was a breeze. I was seen immediately and the hygienist took X-Rays of the tooth as well as pictures. While waiting for Dr. Hernandez they set me up with Netflix and wireless headphones, which were super nice. Dr. Hernandez explained that it was close to being a root canal but he would try to just replaced the cavity filing if possible. He was incredibly patient and thorough in explaining everything, and walked me through the X-Rays and images of the tooth they took. Prior to beginning the work, they went over my treatment plan and explained the costs upfront based on needing the root canal or not. Once they started working they got me nice and numb and after removing some decay and examining the tooth explained the root canal wasn't necessary and they were able to just replace the cavity filling. They added some extra layers of protection and treatment to make sure the tooth wouldn't be sensitive to hot and cold, as well as matched the existing tooth color perfectly. Dr. Hernandez and his team were completely transparent, honest, and had an amazing bedside manner. A lesser Doctor would have jumped at the opportunity to perform a root canal and collect the additional money, especially knowing i was in from out of town and likely wouldn't be back. If i lived here this would definitely be my regular dentist! Highly highly recommended! read more

Dr. Hernandez's office will match your insurance, so I walked out with preventative fillings with zero out of pocket! Truly amazing. Wish I could give them 6 stars! Dr. Hernandez is fantastic!
