It's here that books and videos are sold by the tonne, as well as household bric-a-brac, furniture, collectibles and a whole lot of crap. The fact the admission fee is a laughably small 30p makes it seem like something from the 1940s and is another jewel in the crown of the lane.

The community association is a registered charity which is run by its members. It is the heart of Lark Lane. Many different groups use the centre including self help groups, after school groups, pre-school groups, sports groups and tarde unions. Many different events take place at the centre such as polling day, jumble sales, flea markets, fairs, music events, exhibitions, record fairs and public enquiries. The building used to be the police station on lark lane and is often referred to as the Oid Police Station by locals. It comprises of 2 large halls which are used to their full potential are I doubt are rarely unused throughout the year. There is a great sense of community, super social activities, excellent food. The staff are always so helpful and professional. I have noticed real positive changes. I have social skill problems and Michelle has been an absolutely super welcoming host. Including me in events, and always supportive and caring. The club offers so many different activities and the bar area is cosy and enjoyable with many guest ales and new artisan gins on sale. You can just meet for tea and coffee and the bar food is home made and delicious. I hope Michelle continues at the helm for many years to come.

I've not been inside as I've never had the privilege to be a direct relative of a member, but I've heard it's a very close knit atmosphere, much like the old days of working man's ale houses and village social clubs. I think they have darts and a darts team and I've heard that the ale is incredibly cheap! I know that they have a full bar that consists of lots of spirits and beers and a minimal selection of cheap wines! I'm not sure that they serve food but there's a great chip shop over the road!

Music and singing was drifting out of several bars, but none as enthusiastically as Sweeney's! We looked at each other and said..."we've got to go see what's happening!". It was a full on singing, dancing, drunken ball of happiness! You couldn't help but smile and just be excited to be there. We ordered drinks and quickly got swept up in the contagious fun. Great memories at Sweeney's.
