I also spotted a beautiful suit by YSL for £80 but alas it wasn't my size. I love how they wrap your clothes in paper and put a little Oxfam sticker on it. For me the little details mean so much I also discovered a band of clothing which is on sale here called Junky styling a brand by two sisters who make clothes from recycled materials. There was a dress on sale here which was beautifully made from old trousers with red and white lining.

What i mean by such convoluted words is that although Retromania was fine, it failed to get my attention in any way. A bit over priced with hats between 10 and 60 pounds, a Gianni Frattini dress at 100, and a slightly stained 30's-style dress at 70, I was not enchanted just like a Snow White who didn't eat her apple. Retromania's got your run-of-the-mill vintage and your run-of-the-other-mill "is it really worth this much?" prices. On the reverse-run-of-the-mill, the shop does have a good, funky feel to it and their music selection which went from Sonny and Cher into the Beatles was unobtrusively nice. Now like Ionesco, I'll write "I'm waiting for the aqueduct to come and see me at my windmill," because that involves very non-run-of-the-mill mill situations.

They carry a good number of new goods (in small quantities which suggests that they were donated possibly by businesses), particularly gift items. Overall presentation is 'cute' and 'feminine'. Lots of bargains for decorative home wares and well worth visiting to see what one could pick up!! There is a second hand books section in a separate annex at the back of the shop which often has rare and unusual titles. The staff takes great care to present merchandise well. Recommended. The second time was immediately after the first because I'd dropped my mitten and had to go back and fetch it. This charity shop has got a unique characteristic that may be of interest to some people, but it hammered no nails for me. About 1/4 of this shop is chock full of yarn. Perhaps people buy it for knitting, but I'm inclined to think the the workers at this shop like to twine themselves into different colored balls and run around the streets saying "boo!" If you should ever need yarn for that purpose, you could definitely find some there. Besides yarn, there are the usual charity shop staples - clothes, shoes, house goods and cheap (in both senses of the word) jewelery. Where as I value charity shops for the awesome finds they can turn up once in a while, this one was no treasure chest. Captain Jack Sparrow must have rummaged through first. A.k.a, nothing super exciting. Maybe something good pops up here once in a while - I'm sure it does - but it was not an on day when I went there. I'm not sure if this is just a UK thing or if it was actually closed off. I didn't see anyone go up or down the stairs. There are some decent pieces here. I spotted brands like Marc Jacobs, Alice & Olivia, Vince etc. The prices were a little steep like £45 for an Alice & Olivia sweater so it's still below MSRP (or RRP) but not dirt cheap.

Worst shopping experience of my life!…read more I asked for assistance at the jewelry case, and the lady " supposed manager" took her time to help me. I was interested in a caviar set and when I asked for the price she said 35£ but offered instant to lower the price 5£ without me even asking for a better deal! Not in the foundation interest! After I looked at a necklace (long gold pendant with stones on a black cord )that had the price on it 10£, when I said wanted to purchase it, she took a magnifying glass to check it out at the register and told me she cannot sell it ! Anywhere in the world if there is a item locked in the case where only employees have acces to it, the store is obligated to honor the price and sell the item! This is absolutely outrageous! I have traveled the world and never encountered such terrible customer service! I asked to speak with a manager and she said on a rude tone that she was the manager! If somebody from the HR of this foundation reads this comment I would recomand letting go of this untrustworthy employee, she is dishonest and makes the business lose money and customers . She completely ruined my trip! I'm still in sock that I received this treatment in such a wonderful country! Please don't waste your time shopping here unless you want to ruin your day, the experience it's not worth it! They don't honor their prices! You might have a surprize at the register! Because, they actually choose and promote their best stock. So whereas with other vintage or retro shops, this only stocks really nice items. Which means it's pricey, but I think worth it.
