Luckily the Oxfam bookshop has a small English book section, and I regularly have a look see for any new additions. The books on offer are usually in good condition, a couple of times I've found a bit of a scribbler has been at them though. Naturally the German selection is much wider and they're a reasonable price (the ones I buy usually end up back in the shop after I've struggled through them). The staff are usually friendly and helpful and a couple of them speak English, which was useful when the only German I knew was Zwei Bier, bitte. If you want to buy a book or donate a book it's well worth a visit.

This is kind of the German Macy's, I come here for many years, love the friendly and real helpful…read morestaff, and best of all, they give you the "Tax Free" confirmation, meaning that everybody who lives outside of Germany does not have to pay Taxes in Germany, when the goods you buy are exported - did you know that? You just need this confirmation which you show to Export Customs when you fly back home. That also means instant 19% discount of anything you buy since in Germany you have to pay 19% VAT on everything. So I do my annual shopping here, find everything I was looking for, get my Tax receipt and I am out in less than an hour, that's what I call time effective shopping!!
