There is usually something which sets Oxfam shops apart from other charity shops, and I think that thing is 'sales'.
Now, I mean this in the nicest way possible, because in no way am I attempting to compare these lovely charity people with the pressure selling you find on the street, door to door, or business to business. No sirree! But what I do mean is that Oxfam in general is more aware of making a nice shopping environment for their customers than a lot of charities.
But cottoning on the fact that they can split up their merchandise in sectional shops (books, music, bridal, home ware, clothes etc), it means that a lot of their shops are no longer just brick-a-brack with a shelf at the back full of knitting needles and video tapes.
Yet, there are still the shops which sell a mixture of stuff, and this is one of them. Everything is displayed wonderfully and the shop had a lovely, airy and clean feeling to it, rather than a jumble sale feeling. read more
