Disabled homeless senior completely rejected at Journey Church…read more In addition, the care pastor Sam shared deeply personal information to others without my consent which is betrayal. When volunteering at "The Big Table" I overheard a couple on leadership say, "who is that" instead of introducing themselves and welcoming me. They help homeless people on a weekly basis but not someone who has been attending for months. Christ Jesus and the Scripture I read would not reject, betray, judge nor view disabled seniors as outcasts. Distant friends from another state are completely flabbergasted at the lack of assistance and acceptance Journey has provided to a child of God.

But the vision of the church became incredibly social justice minded. Many believe this is important in the role of the church. While I agree with this, I didn't feel the direction this church took was where I was meant to stay. Shortly thereafter we were called to move to a different state. Many people still there are my lifelong friends. You may find this place your home. But it's not the same place from the first review. Also: they own a building in Brentwood so now it's just Journey Church.

To them Jesus is simply an example not the atoning substitutionary sin sacrifice that paid our sin debt in full so that we can have a true relationship with God and the only way to salvation. That's what the gospel is and what the Bible says. They don't believe in the work of the cross only as an EXAMPLE on how to live right. Very important you know about false teachings before you join a church it could literally cost you your salvation by getting the gospel wrong and denying the Holy Spirit. Paul said it clearly and how you can discern against false gospels. Even after he would be at a church soon after false teachers would come in. Jesus warned us 3 times about false prophets and teachers. 1 Corinthians 2:1-5 New International Version 2 And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. 2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. 4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God's power. Ephesians 2:8-9 New International Version 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. Galatians 1:4: The Lord Jesus Christ is the One "who gave Himself for our sins so that He might rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father." He gave Himself for our sins; He paid the penalty and provided atonement.

Although I will probably never be an every-Sunday type of person, this place is very welcoming and they genuinely care about how you are doing. This place has great childcare, massive seating. The music here is probably the best part of all of it. There are fantastic Professional and amateur musicians/singers who home their craft with care and really really deliver its time.
